✨ A victory for every Josenian voice! ✨

What started as a concern raised by students has now become a meaningful change. The proposed reassessment of the graduation dress code for female graduates has officially been approved, allowing female graduates to wear Sunday’s Best attire during Commencement Exercises.

This milestone reflects the power of student representation, constructive dialogue, and collective action. It proves that when students are heard and leaders remain committed to advocacy, positive change is possible.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Jay Vincent Bermoy for championing this initiative and for his unwavering commitment to student welfare. This achievement serves as a testament that meaningful change is possible when leaders listen, students participate, and the community works together toward a common goal.

A win for every graduating Josenian! 🎓✨

The approval of the proposed reassessment of the graduation dress code for female graduates marks a significant step toward a more practical, comfortable, and inclusive graduation experience while upholding the dignity and solemnity of the Commencement Exercises.

This achievement reflects the power of student representation, constructive dialogue, and collective action. Thank you to the University Administration, Graduation Committee, School Board, student leaders, and every Josenian who voiced their concerns and supported this initiative.

Approved Dress Code for Female Graduates:
• Sunday’s Best attire
• Black closed shoes
• Heel height ranging from 1 to 1.5 inches only
• No “show” socks

| USJ-R HEARS YOU: PROPOSED REASSESSMENT OF THE GRADUATION DRESS CODE FOR FEMALE GRADUATES APPROVED

The USJ-R Supreme Student Council (SSC) 45th Congress remains committed to championing student welfare and ensuring that the voices of Josenians are heard in matters that directly affect the student experience.

Following the consultation conducted on June 9, 2026, where the proposal for the reassessment of the graduation dress code for female graduates was formally presented and discussed before the Graduation Committee, the proposal underwent extensive deliberation and review by the concerned offices and members of the School Board. This initiative was guided by the proposal previously forwarded by the Commission on Youth Empowerment of the USJ-R Supreme Student Council 44th Congress, reflecting the continued commitment of student leaders across administrations to advocate for policies that address the needs and concerns of the student body.

Today, we are pleased to announce that the proposed reassessment of the graduation dress code for female graduates has been approved.

Under the revised provisions reflected in Section E (Dress Code) of the official graduation guidelines, female graduates are now permitted to wear Sunday’s Best attire, providing a more practical, comfortable, and inclusive option while preserving the formality, dignity, and solemnity of the Commencement Exercises.

Approved Dress Code for Female Graduates:
• Sunday’s Best attire
• Black closed shoes
• Heel height ranging from 1 to 1.5 inches only
• No “show” socks

| UPDATE ON THE PROPOSED REASSESSMENT OF THE GRADUATION DRESS CODE FOR FEMALE GRADUATES

The USJ-R SSC 45th Congress remains steadfast in its commitment to representing and advocating for the Josenian community. In response to the long-standing concerns surrounding the graduation dress code for female graduates, the Council has intensified its efforts to push for a more equitable and student-centered policy.

Below are the latest updates regarding the proposal:

1. Consultation Conducted

On June 9, 2026, the policy proposal was formally presented during the Graduation Committee's consultation and meeting. The proposal was thoroughly discussed and justified, providing an avenue to ensure that student perspectives and concerns remained at the forefront of the decision-making process.

2. Positive Developments

Today, June 11, 2026, the Vice President for Academics and Research met with the SSC and shared that a final decision may be reached as early as tomorrow. While the proposal has yet to secure the required quorum, current voting trends indicate that more members are voting in favor of the proposal than against it.

3. Further Deliberations Ongoing

The proposal remains under review and will continue to undergo deliberation with the School Board. The Council remains actively engaged throughout the process to ensure that student welfare, equity, and institutional considerations are all carefully balanced in the final decision.

At this time, the proposal is still UNDER REVIEW. We ask for the understanding, patience, and continued support of the student body as the Council and the administration work together to uphold the welfare, well-being, and best interests of every Josenian.
