The ๐๐๐จ-๐๐๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐งโ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ successfully concluded yesterday, March 16, 2026, at the CTU Main Gymnatorium.
The event was formally opened by Dr. Mary Jane Sim, University Director from the Gender and Development Office, marking the official start of the Women's Month celebration. This was followed by the inspiring keynote message from Dr. Ve Leslie E. Astanoza, University Director, CDIO, who emphasized the importance of collective action in building a more responsible and inclusive community.
The first session was facilitated by Mr. Alan Dinampo, Board President of Cebu Climate Change Association (CCCA), who discussed the pressing consequences of improper solid waste management and highlighted the benefits of practicing proper waste segregation and disposal in our daily lives.
The second session was led by Dr. Leoncio T. Lucero Jr., Director of the Civil Service Unit, who underscored the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment for all genders, emphasizing social responsibility and respect within the community.
A question-and-answer session was also conducted between the discussions, providing students with the opportunity to raise inquiries and deepen their understanding of the important topics presented by the speakers.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the speakers in recognition of their valuable time and effort in sharing their knowledge with the students, as well as for thoughtfully addressing their questions and further enlightening their curious minds. This was followed by the closing remarks delivered by Ms. Sheine Marie Lato, DOST SA CTU President, officially bringing the event to a meaningful and successful end.
In collaboration with the Gender and Development CTU -MAIN, CTU Main Civil Security Unit, and CTU Main Pollution Control Office, the event successfully achieved its goal of celebrating and empowering the rights and identities of womenโboth biologically and non-biologicallyโwhile also raising awareness about the importance and impact of proper solid waste management.
The Eco-Warriors in Action event served not only as a platform for learning but also as a call for everyone to take part in building a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive environment. As the celebration of Women's Month continues, may the knowledge and insights gained from this event inspire the community to remain proactive in protecting the environment and advocating for equality and social responsibility.
