Sometimes, the most meaningful moments are not found in grand celebrations or loud victories, but in quiet conversations, shared laughter, and the simple presence of people who journey together through faith and service.
The CAYM Core Officers recently gathered at Camino Beach House in Liloan, Cebu for a retreat that became more than just an overnight stay by the sea, it became a space for reflection, healing, gratitude, and renewed purpose.
Upon arriving at the beach house, the atmosphere was immediately filled with excitement and warmth. Before the deeper sessions began, the officers spent time bonding through friendly games of badminton, pickleball, and volleyball. Beneath the heat of the sun and the sound of crashing waves, they laughed, cheered for one another, and strengthened the friendships that had carried them throughout the year. Through these simple activities, they were reminded that a ministry is not only about service, but also about community and joy.
As evening came, the mood shifted into a more solemn and reflective atmosphere. Together with their campus ministers and school chaplain, the officers gathered for a heartfelt session where they looked back on the ups and downs of the past year. Stories of struggles, sacrifices, misunderstandings, victories, and growth were shared openly. It became a safe space where officers opened their hearts, listened to one another, and reflected on how far the ministry had come despite the challenges they faced. More importantly, they shared their hopes and prayers for the next set of officers who will continue the mission of CAYM in the coming year.
The night also became emotional as the group held a small farewell for Ate Rina, who had officially graduated. Her presence, guidance, and dedication to the ministry left a lasting impact on the organization. Though goodbyes are never easy, her journey was celebrated with gratitude and pride, knowing that the values she shared with the ministry will continue to live on in the hearts of those she served alongside.
Amid the heartfelt moments, there was also time for celebration as the officers surprised Kuya Jay with a simple birthday gathering. It served as a reminder that even in ministry, the little moments matter, the birthdays, the laughter, the shared meals, and the memories that slowly become part of a familyโs story.
As the night deepened, the retreat transformed into an evening of fun, music, and togetherness. Songs echoed throughout the beach house as the officers sang, laughed, and enjoyed each otherโs company. For a while, the stress and exhaustion brought by responsibilities faded away, replaced by genuine happiness and appreciation for the people around them.
The following morning began peacefully with a solemn Mass held in the garden and celebrated by the school chaplain. Surrounded by nature and the quietness of the morning, the officers concluded the retreat grounded once again in prayer and thanksgiving. The Mass served as a reminder that beyond the activities, games, and conversations, the heart of their ministry remains rooted in faith and service to God.
As the retreat came to a close, the officers left Camino Beach House carrying more than just memories and photographs. They carried renewed strength, deeper friendships, healed hearts, and a stronger sense of purpose. The retreat reminded them that while leadership may change and seasons may pass, the spirit of CAYM continues through people willing to serve with love, unity, and faith.
Indeed, it was not simply a getaway by the beach, it was a meaningful journey of reflection, growth, and togetherness that will remain in their hearts long after the waves have settled.
