"FIND THE SEAT WHERE GRACE PLACES YOU, NOT WHERE EGO WANTS TO TAKE YOU"

LUKE 14: 7-14

This passage reflects many happenings in today — where people compete for power, titles, recognition, and influence. Some pursue positions not primarily to serve, but to be seen, honored, or in control. Jesus warned against the mindset of rushing to the highest seat because human ambition often leads to pride, division, and eventual humiliation.

> “The greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.”

Jesus teaches:

* Do not force yourself into the highest place.
* Let character speak before position.
* True honor comes from God, not self-promotion.

This passage also reminds us that:

* A seat gained through pride is unstable.
* A position without humility becomes dangerous.
* God watches the motives behind leadership.

> “Many are fighting for seats at the table, while Jesus is still looking for servants willing to wash feet.”

"THE PULL OF WHAT FEELS IMPORTANT"

Matthew 16:26
“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”

We live in a world where many things compete for our attention, time, and heart but not everything that feels urgent is truly important. And not everything that feels important is actually eternal.

In life, many things will come. And some things are meant to be, discerned, filtered, and released.

But there is one thing that will remain:
† 1 John 2:17
“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”

The pull of what feels important is real, but so is the call of what is eternal. And the direction you listen to will determine the life you become.

Title: What’s Powering Your Lamp?

MATTHEW 6:22-23

Jesus is teaching that how you view your possessions (the "eye") determines your spiritual health. If you are stingy, you live in "great darkness" because your heart is enslaved by material things.

Think of your eyes like a literal lamp. Whatever you point that lamp at determines what fills the 'room' of your heart.

L — Limit
Set a timer for your apps. Don't let "scrolling" become "staring." If you look at a screen too long, you lose your focus on real life.

A — Audit
Check your "Following" list. If an account feeds your envy (darkness), unfollow it. If it feeds your soul (light), keep it.

M — Mindful
Before you click, ask: "Is this filling me with light?" Be the boss of your eyes; don't let the algorithm decide what you see.

P — Prioritize
Put God's Word before the world’s feed. Look at the Scripture before you look at the Screen each morning.

"Our eyes are the gateway to our souls. Let’s make sure we’re letting in light, not darkness.”

"BE ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN GOD"

John 15: 1-5

4. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Why it is important to be rooted and be grounded in God?

Because...

1. Jesus is the source of life.
(John 14:6 )

2. God prunes us to grow better.
(Hebrews 12:11)

3. God’s Word cleanses us.
(Ephesians 5:26)

4. We must remain in Jesus.
(John 6:56 )

5. We bear fruit through Him.
(Galatians 5:22–23
