โ๏ธ A look back from Captain Ernie Mangaoang of Missionary Avoation Fellowship (MAF) - Memories Showing the Hand of God
โGod Works in Mysterious Ways - part 2
My stay in Zamboanga is drawing to a close. I will be going back to Luzon next week, February 3, and by the 5th I will be in Baguio. Before I depart may I write a sequel to my previous aticle, God Works in Mysterious Ways.
Back in the 1980s, a pastor in Cebu by the name of Rev. Sammy Cagumbay invited me. He then was interested to do joint ministry and wanted me to meet a German missionary. We boarded a boat to go visit the missionary. While settled in our cabin, there was an announcement that due to engine trouble the trip was cancelled.
I went back to Zamboanga without meeting the missionary. God works in mysterious ways. He brought Rev. Lueckhof, head of Christian Frontier Ministries, (CFM) and his secretary to my doorstep. Out of the blue, they came knocking at my door. They wanted our help as they were planning to hold a city-wide evangelistic gatherings. We gave them our full support and assigned a staff to help them with the evangelistic gatherings. This was the satrt of the friendship and partnership between Rev. Lueckhof and myself.
On the outset, Rev Lueckhof helped in the formation of Asian Christian Aviation Ministries (ACAM). With his help, we were able to refurbish a retired Cessna 206. By Filipino ingenuity, we were able to overhaul both engine and airframe. The C-206 looked like brand new after having it painted. This plane was our work horse used extensively by flying New Tribes missionary all the way to Manado Indonesia.
With our partnership with CFM, Rev Lueckhof assigned a couple, Pastor Carlo & Daisy Benitez, to help us in the ministry in Rosales Pangasinan. The work they started laid the ground work for other ministries to flourish.
I believe God works in marvelous ways. Whether through ACAM or CFM, what matters most is that His name is magnified and glorified. All glory and praise belong to Him alone.โ
