We are delighted to share some hopeful news: the rehabilitation phase has officially begun on Balut Island.

Under the leadership of Fr. Melchor Cagape, SVD, who is also an architect by profession, a beautiful, resilient, and practical housing design has been developed. Each home will feature two bedrooms and provide families with a safe and dignified place to begin again.

One of the most inspiring aspects of this project is the spirit of partnership that makes it possible. The SVD Task Force will provide the construction materials, while the beneficiary families will contribute their own labor in building their homes. This collaborative approach not only reduces costs but also empowers families to actively participate in rebuilding their future with dignity and hope.

Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, we currently have sufficient funds to finance the construction of 150 homes.

To all our friends and supporters around the world, thank you. Your generosity has become far more than financial assistance—it has become a powerful expression of compassion, solidarity, and Christian love. Every donation is helping transform loss into hope, despair into courage, and devastation into new beginnings.

Together, we are doing much more than rebuilding houses. We are restoring families, strengthening communities, and giving hope a place to live once again on Balut Island.

Shine, Loreto! Bibo, Loreto! 💚🌾

The Municipality of Loreto, Agusan del Sur, continues to be a beacon of hope for the people of Nuing who were affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao.

A second delivery of 5 tons of rice has safely reached Sto. Niño Parish in Nuing and was received by the parish priest, Fr. Kim Cossid. With this latest shipment, the Municipality of Loreto has generously donated a total of 7.5 tons of rice, which will be distributed to families in need through the dedicated volunteers of Sto. Niño Parish.

This second delivery was far from easy. Heavy rains triggered a landslide that made the journey extremely challenging. Yet, by God's grace, the relief reached its destination, bringing not only food but also renewed hope to the affected communities.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Mayor Alvin A. Otaza, Ma'am Lorife Magadan Otaza, the officials of the Municipality of Loreto, and all the people of Loreto for your extraordinary generosity and compassion. Your kindness has become a living testimony that, even in times of hardship, we are never alone.

Your generosity will long be remembered by the people of Nuing.

The SVD Task Force, represented by Ma'am Brenette Abrenica, proudly joined the Simbakalusugan Medical Mission organized by the Archdiocese of Cebu at Santa Monica Parish, Pinamungajan, Cebu. We are also deeply grateful to the University of San Carlos for generously providing vehicles that made the transportation of volunteers possible.
More than 50 dedicated healthcare professionals—doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and other medical volunteers—came together in a remarkable expression of compassion and service. Their dedication made it possible to provide the following free medical services:

• X-ray – 184 (including 19 presumptive cases)
• Laboratory – 54
• Triage – 97
• Pediatric Consultations – 19
• Internal Medicine Consultations – 42
• OB-Gyne Consultations – 15
• Pharmacy Services – 46
• VIA Screening – 19
• Minor Surgeries – 6
• ECG – 63
• HIV Testing – 0
• Dental Tooth Extractions – 80
• Dental Cleanings – 120
In total, more than 700 people received medical care and assistance through this life-giving outreach.

Distribution of Relief Goods to Two GKK Communities
Relief goods were distributed to two GKK communities: GKK San Vicente Ferrer in Barangay Camalig and GKK San Antonio de Padua in Barangay Laker.
The residents of these two barangays gratefully received food packs, plastic household items, and kitchen utensils. Despite losing their homes due to the earthquake and the destruction of houses along the shoreline caused by rising sea waters and powerful waves, they welcomed the assistance with joy and gratitude.
Our heartfelt thanks to the parish staff, the youth volunteers, the DEPED volunteers, Fr. B**g Cagape SVD, and our benefactors, for their dedication and generous service in bringing hope and relief to these affected communities.

Hope Rises from Ground Zero

Today, our relief mission reached GKK Sta. Cruz, Barangay Camahual—one of the hardest-hit communities, the true Ground Zero of this tragedy.

Many families have lost not only their homes, but also their pump boats and the livelihoods that sustained them. Yet, amid the devastation, hope continues to shine through the generosity of compassionate hearts and the unwavering spirit of the community.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the dedicated parish staff and volunteers whose tireless service brought comfort and hope to those in need. Your kindness is a living witness that no one walks alone in times of suffering.

Some wounds cannot be measured by numbers. In Barangay Patuco, Sarangani Island, families are mourning the loss of their loved ones who perished in the landslide, while many others have lost the only place they called home after the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake.
In response to this tragedy, Fr. Anthony SVD, together with the dedicated volunteers from St. Teresa Parish, conducted a relief operation to bring assistance and comfort to the affected families in the area.
Today, we stand in solidarity with the people of Barangay Patuco, sharing not only relief goods but also our prayers, compassion, and hope. In times of great suffering, every act of kindness reminds them that they are not alone.
We sincerely thank all our generous donors, volunteers, and benefactors whose support continues to make this mission possible. Your generosity is bringing real help and hope to those who need it most.

Preparedness Saves Lives

Natural disasters do not only destroy homes—they can also leave entire communities without electricity, clean water, and basic services for days or even weeks. While we cannot prevent earthquakes, typhoons, or other calamities, we can prepare ourselves to face them with greater resilience.

Our SVD confreres in Balut Island, Fr. Melchor "B**g" Cagape and Fr. Anthony Nguyễn Trường Sơn, offer an inspiring example of disaster preparedness. Earlier this year, they invested in an 18 kW solar power system with six battery storage units. Even before that, they had installed several rainwater harvesting tanks to ensure a reliable water supply.

These decisions, made before the recent earthquake, proved invaluable. Throughout the emergency, the parish continued to have electricity and access to clean drinking water, allowing it to serve not only the community but also those seeking help in the aftermath of the disaster.

Preparedness is not a luxury—it is an act of responsibility and love for others. Every family, parish, school, and institution should ask: If a disaster struck tomorrow, would we be ready?

The best time to prepare is before the next emergency arrives. Every small step we take today—storing emergency supplies, securing a water source, investing in renewable energy, or developing a family emergency plan—can make a life-changing difference tomorrow.

Preparedness today is hope for tomorrow. Let us act now, before the next calamity comes.
