In line with the promotion of eye health and the prevention of vision-related problems, the Cebu Heritage Lions Club conducted a Medical Mission – Eyesight activity on March 28, 2026, at the Barangay Apas Gymnasium, Lahug, Cebu City. The project was carried out under the theme “Love Your Eyes.”

The primary objective of the activity was to raise awareness about the importance of proper eye care and to encourage individuals to take proactive steps in maintaining their vision. The initiative also aimed to provide accessible vision services to community members, particularly those with limited access to healthcare.

The outreach activity gathered residents of Barangay Apas and surrounding communities. Free eye checkups were conducted by volunteer Heritigians, ensuring that participants received basic vision screening and professional assessment.

In addition, free reading glasses were distributed to individuals identified with vision impairments during the screening. The activity combined both service delivery and health education, highlighting the importance of regular eye examinations for the early detection and prevention of eye conditions.

The Medical Mission – Eyesight project successfully provided essential vision care services to underserved members of the community. Beneficiaries were able to receive immediate assistance for their visual needs, improving their daily functioning and quality of life.

Furthermore, the activity increased awareness about eye health and reinforced the importance of preventive care. Participants were encouraged to adopt better practices in maintaining their eyesight and to seek regular checkups.

The “Love Your Eyes” Medical Mission – Eyesight 2026 was a successful and impactful initiative that addressed a critical aspect of public health—vision care. The project effectively supported the Vision Global Cause of Lions Clubs International by promoting awareness and delivering accessible eye care services.

In observance of Women’s Month, Cebu Heritage Lions Club in partnership with Brilliant Beginnings, and with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce Greater Pasadena, Inc., organized a feeding program entitled “Hope for Cebu Relief Mission.” The activity aimed to provide immediate assistance to women and children affected by the recent typhoon in Mandaue City.

The program specifically sought to address hunger and malnutrition among vulnerable sectors, particularly women and children who continue to face economic hardship. This initiative is aligned with the organization’s commitment to addressing hunger as one of its key service priorities.

The feeding program was conducted on March 14, 2026, and successfully served approximately 150 beneficiaries, primarily composed of women and children. Nutritious meals and safe drinking water were provided during the activity.

In addition to the feeding component, the organizers distributed essential food items, including rice, sardines, and noodles, as well as basic hygiene kits. These provisions were intended to support the beneficiaries’ immediate nutritional and sanitation needs.

The activity effectively reached its target beneficiaries and provided much-needed relief to families affected by the recent typhoon. The distribution of food and hygiene supplies contributed to alleviating short-term hunger and promoting basic health and sanitation practices.

Moreover, the program fostered a sense of care and community support among the beneficiaries, particularly among women and children who are among the most vulnerable during times of crisis.

The Hope for Cebu Relief Mission Feeding Program was successfully implemented and achieved its intended objectives. The collaboration among Brilliant Beginnings, the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce Greater Pasadena, Inc., and the Cebu Heritage Lions Club highlights the value of partnerships in delivering meaningful community service.

On February 21, 2026, the Cebu City Interfaith Movement in partnership with the Cebu Heritage Lions Club successfully conducted a relief operation for families affected by flooding brought about by Bagyong Tino in Cebu City.

The activity aimed to uplift the spirits of individuals and families whose lives were disrupted by the typhoon and who continue to recover from its aftermath. This initiative is aligned with the global causes of Lions Clubs International, particularly in responding to calls of distress through timely and compassionate disaster relief assistance.

During the relief operation, essential goods were distributed to affected residents. These included sacks of rice to support daily sustenance, commercial tents to provide temporary shelter, snack packs for immediate food needs, and school supplies for children to help them continue their education despite the challenges brought by the disaster.

The success of the activity was made possible through the collective efforts and generous support of various private and non-sectoral organizations. Among those who actively participated were New Datche Philippines, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Quezon City Christian Academy, Starbright Office Depot, BLIA, and BRAHMA KUMARIS.

Through unity, compassion, and collaboration, the relief operation became a meaningful expression of service, bringing hope and assistance to the affected communities. Overall, the activity was a success, demonstrating the power of partnership in responding to emergencies and strengthening community resilience in times of crisis

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, the Cebu Heritage Lions Club, in partnership with Love Yourself Foundation, successfully conducted an HIV Awareness Program entitled “Break the Silence: Talk About HIV” at Mandaue City College.

The event gathered approximately 700 students, making the youth sector the primary audience. Given the increasing number of HIV cases reported nationwide, this initiative was both timely and essential. The youth were highly engaged and receptive, recognizing the importance of being educated about HIV prevention, testing, and stigma reduction.

Aligned with the global advocacy programs of Lions Clubs International, the project aimed to:
• Educate students about HIV, its causes, transmission, prevention, and treatment
• Raise awareness about the rising HIV cases among the youth
• Encourage responsible decision-making and safe practices
• Promote regular HIV testing and consultation
• Help eliminate stigma and discrimination toward individuals living with HIV
• Equip educators with knowledge on how to support students who may be affected

Highlights
• A knowledgeable and well-informed speaker from the Love Yourself Foundation delivered an educational discussion on HIV awareness and prevention.
• Free HIV testing and consultation were provided to students on-site.
• Condoms were distributed to promote safe and responsible behavior.
• An interactive Question and Answer portion with prizes encouraged student participation.
• The Cebu Heritage Lions Club donated a printer to Mandaue City College as part of its support to the institution.

Impact

The HIV Awareness Program was a meaningful and productive Valentine’s Day activity that emphasized love, responsibility, and health awareness. By breaking the silence and encouraging open discussions about HIV, the event empowered young individuals with accurate information and access to free testing services.

Cebu Heritage Lions Club, in partnership with Arising Church and KhertKhylla Travel and Tours, and in coordination with Councilor Richard Bardilas of Barangay Dumlog, successfully conducted Packs of Hope – Wave 1, a disaster relief operation for families severely affected by Typhoon Tino, one of the hardest-hitting calamities in the area.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our generous sponsors and donors whose unwavering support made this mission possible.

Through their shared blessings, we were able to reach 400 families—200 families from Sitio Baybay and 200 families from Sitio Litmon—providing much-needed relief and comfort during a difficult time.

The following relief items were distributed to the beneficiaries:
• 200 water jugs (2.5 liters of drinking water)
• 200 packed lunch meals (chicken and rice)
• 100 grocery packs containing 2 kilos of rice, noodles, sardines, and beef loaf
• 100 health kits
• 100 sleeping mats (banig)
• 250 children’s goodies
• 100 sets of donated clothing

In line with one of the global causes of Lions International—Disaster Relief—this initiative exemplified the true spirit of Lionism. By responding swiftly and compassionately, we were able to bring hope, assistance, and solidarity to communities in need during a time of crisis.

Together, we continue to serve with kindness, unity, and commitment—because where there is need, there is a Lion.

During the Christmas season, the Cebu Heritage Lions Club, in partnership with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce Greater Pasadena Inc., conducted a relief mission to extend back-to-back Bundles of Joy to families affected by Typhoon Tino in Talisay City, Cebu.

Through the generosity of donors and partners, the club was able to distribute essential relief items such as rice, noodles, canned goods, used clothing, and toys for children. These were provided to evacuees from some of the most severely affected areas who, at the time of distribution, were still displaced and seeking shelter at the barangay gymnasium and parish grounds in Talisay.

The relief operation aimed to help alleviate the difficult conditions faced by the typhoon victims and to remind them that they are not alone during this challenging time. The Bundles of Joy served not only as material support but also as a symbol of compassion, solidarity, and hope—especially meaningful during the Christmas season.

Aligned with Humanitarian Service, one of the global causes of Lions Clubs International, this initiative exemplified the true spirit of Lionism. In times of need, the Lions stand ready to serve, offering help, hope, and humanity to those who need it most.

The Cebu Heritage Lions Club actively participated in the district-wide activity of Lions Clubs International initiated by District 301-B2 District Governor - Kiki Romualdez, embodying the true spirit of service and compassion. United with fellow Lions, the club came together to bring joy, hope, and comfort to children bravely battling pediatric cancer at the Everlasting Hope Children Center Mission.

As part of the outreach, the club donated Pediasure and Bear Brand milk, toys, fans, and tissue supplies to 60 pediatric patients. These items were timely and essential, especially for children undergoing chemotherapy, helping to support their nourishment, comfort, and overall well-being during treatment. The donations also helped ease their physical discomfort and uplift their spirits, particularly during the Christmas season.

This season of giving provided a meaningful opportunity to share blessings with children who are already facing significant challenges at a young age. Through gifts, nourishment, and heartfelt presence, the activity delivered comfort, encouragement, and genuine smiles during a difficult chapter of their lives, reinforcing the Lions’ commitment to service and compassion for those most in need.

WORLD DIABETES DAY 2025

In observance of World Diabetes Day, the Cebu Heritage Lions Club successfully organized a public engagement and community involvement activity held at the Mantuyong Barangay Hall, Mandaue City. The event served as a vital platform to educate the public, promote diabetes prevention and early detection, and advocate for better care and support for individuals affected by the condition.

Community members who attended the program benefited from complimentary health services, including medical consultations conducted by a licensed Medical Doctor and an Endocrinologist. Additional services such as blood sugar testing and blood pressure monitoring were provided by dedicated volunteer caregivers. To further support patients, recipients were given essential items, including diabetes medications, ready-to-drink fresh milk from Ensure and Glucerna, kilos of rice, sachets of milk, complete lunch meal packs, and refreshments and had donated to the barangay Glucometer Set for future testing of blood sugar in their bgry.

The program also featured educational sessions led by healthcare professionals, focusing on diabetes types, symptoms, risk factors, possible complications, and effective management strategies. This initiative combined education and humanitarian service by integrating informative discussions with direct, practical assistance such as free health screenings and essential medical supplies.
The Cebu Heritage Lions Club’s Diabetes Awareness Program proved to be a meaningful and successful endeavor. It strongly aligned with the organization’s core mission of service by delivering concrete, life-altering support to the community while significantly enhancing its visibility and community engagement.

In essence, serving the community through awareness initiatives helps build a more informed, connected, and resilient society—one where individuals are empowered to recognize health risks and collectively address shared challenges such as diabetes.
