N+ Calls for Immediate Action to Protect Continuous Access to HIV Treatment
Network of Positive Advocates of the Philippines, Inc. (N+) expresses grave concern over the ongoing shortages of antiretroviral (ARV) medicines affecting HIV treatment hubs across the country. Reports of shortened ARV refills and medicine stockouts threaten treatment adherence, viral suppression, and the health of thousands of Filipinos living with HIV.
N+ calls on all HIV treatment hubs to immediately maximize their OHAT Package funds to procure ARV buffer stocks, in line with existing Department of Health guidance, to ensure that no person living with HIV experiences treatment interruption.
We also urge the Department of Health to strengthen the national ARV procurement and supply chain by addressing recurring shortages through improved forecasting, procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
We encourage PLHIV support groups, community organizations, healthcare providers, and local governments to work together in monitoring medicine availability, engaging treatment hubs, and promoting transparency and accountability.
Access to ARVs is not a privilegeโit is a matter of health, dignity, and human rights.
Our Call to Action
No one should miss a dose because of preventable shortages. Act now. Protect uninterrupted access to ARVs. Save lives. End the HIV epidemicโtogether.
