This National Heroes Day, the Philippine Red Cross honors the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who fought for our nation—and celebrates the spirit of heroism that continues to live in Filipinos who choose to serve others.

Today, heroism can be found in every volunteer who runs toward an emergency, every responder who reaches communities in times of disaster, every blood donor who gives a part of themselves so another may live, and every Filipino who extends a helping hand without expecting anything in return.

As we remember the heroes who helped build our nation, may we also recognize those who continue their legacy through compassion, courage, and service.

Heroes are not only remembered. Heroes answer the call.

Today, we honor the unwavering spirit of compassion, resilience, and service that drives our volunteers, staff, and partners on the ground.

As seen in the image, the heart of the Philippine Red Cross beats loudest through action—from relief distributions and medical missions to community health responses and logistical support in times of crisis. Wherever help is needed, our people are on the front lines, embodying our enduring commitment to be Always First, Always Ready, Always There.

As Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon emphasizes, "Volunteers serve as the organization's backbone and ensure that whatever the community is living through—a natural disaster, a health crisis, a conflict—we will continue to be the lifeline of the people". Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang echoes this sentiment, reminding us that "the movement has always been built on ordinary people" who dedicate themselves to service.

𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘪𝘴 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭. 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦 7.8 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘵𝘴 Mindanao.

​Our brothers and sisters in affected areas are facing a humanitarian crisis. Families are displaced, essential supplies are scarce, and critical infrastructure is in ruins. The images are a small glimpse into the reality of the destruction.

Following the fire incident that occurred on June 5, 2026, at Pier 2, Catbalogan City, the Philippine Red Cross – Western Samar Chapter immediately responded to the needs of the affected families.

Under the direction of Board of Director Chairwoman Dir. Stephany Uy-Tan and the leadership of Chapter Administrator Engr. Grace D. Nube, Red Cross Youth members and volunteers joined forces in preparing and distributing hot meals to the fire victims.

In times of crisis, a warm meal serves as a reminder that no one stands alone. Through compassion, solidarity, and humanitarian service, we continue to bring comfort and hope to those affected by emergencies.

As our term comes to an end, we look back with gratitude for the memories, challenges, and accomplishments we shared as one council.

Thank you, CRCY Council of the Red Cross Youth Western Samar Chapter, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving humanity. Though this chapter closes, the impact you've made will continue to inspire others.

The Red Cross Youth Western Samar Chapter proudly provided First Aid and Hydration support during the 𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 organized by MASULOG Empowerment Initiatives.

As humanitarian volunteers, we remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of participants while supporting initiatives that promote menstrual health awareness, dignity, and empowerment within our communities.

Together, we run for a cause. Together, we empower.
