“When Following Jesus Means Letting Go of Who You Used to Be”
Matthew 9:9–17

Sometimes, following Jesus means leaving behind the things, labels, and patterns that once defined us.

Together, we reflected on four things Jesus invites us to let go of:

1. Old Loyalties — Who are you really following?
2. Old Treasures — What are you holding on to?
3. Old Labels — What labels are you still carrying?
4. Old Wineskins — What old patterns can’t hold the new life Jesus is giving you?

The good news.
Jesus doesn’t wait for us to clean up before He calls us. His invitation is simple:

“Follow Me.” — Matthew 9:9

A meaningful evening of reflection, encouragement, and being reminded that following Jesus means receiving His grace and allowing Him to make us new.

WEDNESDAY PRAYER NIGHT.
September 30, 2026 | 1 Kings 18:20–39

Leah Mae Rebadulla, a newly accepted scholar, led Week 5: “Elijah: When You Need God to Move.” Key lessons were:

1. Choose God and stand firm in faith.
2. Pray and surrender what you cannot control.
3. Trust God’s power and give Him the glory.

Mica Tulin facilitated the formation of permanent discipleship groups:

✓Mica — Bianca & Leah Mae
✓Roxan — Angelica & Icy
✓Fred — Jhon Mark & Sandrex

The groups were formed to strengthen accountability, reflection, prayer, and intentional discipleship, while developing members toward becoming disciple-makers.

Afterward, Roxan facilitated a quick evaluation of the recent In-Person Sunday Fellowship, focusing on what went well, areas for improvement, and suggestions for future activities.

Truly investing in people is never wasted. When people understand the vision, they can embrace and carry out the mission.

The goal remains clear: developing the next generation of Christlike leaders who can step up, influence others, and develop others to do the same.

God deserves all the honor and glory.

FOLLOWING JESUS WHEN IT COSTS YOU SOMETHING

Last September 27, 2026, we held our first in-person Sunday Fellowship at GCF Mercy Ministry Student Center after six weeks of meeting online.

Pastor Peter Paul Reynaldo of GCF Silvino Lubos shared from Luke 9:57–62, challenging us with one question:

“Will I follow Jesus when following Him costs me something?”

Following Jesus means:
• Choosing truth over approval
• Saying no to yourself
• Standing firm without losing love

We reflected on three questions:
Am I choosing people’s approval over Jesus? What is Jesus asking me to surrender? How can I stand firm while still loving people?

The gathering continued with breakout discussions facilitated by young professionals, followed by a challenge from Pastor Oriel Valenciano of CCBC on standing firm as Christians on campus.

Our worship was led by UEP Worship Circle, through the collaboration of GCF Mercy Ministry, GCF Silvino Lubos, Sinag ng Hilaga, CCBC, and UEP student leaders.

Our Sunday In-Person Fellowship seeks to build a culture that loves God, experiences His presence, loves His people, and grows together to make an impact in our communities.

Special thanks to our GCF Mercy Ministry Scholars for your hard work, commitment, and heart for this ministry. ❤️

To God be all the glory!

Becoming an active members of the community.

Today, the GCF Mercy Ministry scholars joined a community clean-up drive in Brgy. Cawayan, collecting plastic waste along the coastal area. The initiative was led by Fred Rick Balleta as part of their commitment to serve and contribute to the community.

More than cleaning the shoreline, this experience gave them an opportunity to see the realities around them, work alongside others, and encourage more people to take part in caring for our shared environment.

Simple acts. Shared responsibility. Big impact. One community, one step at a time.

WEDNESDAY PRAYER NIGHT

Tonight, Fred Balleta shared from Daniel 6:1–28 on “A Prayer That Doesn’t Depend on Circumstances.”

Daniel kept praying—even when things got difficult. His situation changed, but his trust in God didn’t.

Three reminders:
1. Build your relationship with God before the crisis.
2. Stay consistent in prayer.
3. Trust God, even when you don’t understand what’s happening.

Prayer isn’t just for the hard days. It’s a lifestyle of trusting God.
