𝐒𝐒𝐋𝐆 𝐈𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐒𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐒𝐋𝐆 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐄𝐬𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) Organizations across the Schools Division Office of Northern Samar actively participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 from June 1–5, 2026, demonstrating the spirit of leadership, volunteerism, and community service.

Student leaders from different schools across the province joined teachers, parents, and stakeholders in preparing their campuses for the opening of classes through clean-up drives, classroom preparation, and school beautification activities.

More than a week of preparation, Brigada Eskwela is a symbol of bayanihan—showcasing the collective effort of communities working together to create safe, clean, and learner-friendly schools. Through their active participation, Northern Samar SSLG officers continue to exemplify servant leadership and their commitment to quality education.

𝗔 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗗𝗔 𝗘𝗦𝗞𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Last June 2, 2026, education leaders, stakeholders, district heads, school heads, teachers, volunteers, and community partners gathered at the Bobon Covered Court for the Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kick-Off Program, marking the official start of this year's collective effort to prepare schools for the opening of classes.

In solidarity with the goals and aspirations of Brigada Eskwela, Division Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government President Christian D. Morecho prepared and submitted a Message of Support on behalf of the learner sector. While the message was not delivered during the program due to time constraints, it reflected the unwavering commitment of student leaders to promote volunteerism, active citizenship, and meaningful participation in strengthening the educational community.

The message emphasized that education is a shared responsibility and that the success of every learner is made possible through the cooperation of schools, stakeholders, volunteers, and community partners working together for a common purpose.

The Division Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government proudly stands with the Department of Education in advancing programs that foster learner welfare, community engagement, and a culture of service.

As Brigada Eskwela 2026 officially begins, may the spirit of bayanihan continue to inspire us to work together in building schools that are safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning for every Filipino learner.

The DFSSLG successfully set up a booth at the recently concluded Siklab: Ibabao Youth Summit, a.k.a. “Coachella” 😜

The DFSSLG Bits and Bites featured a variety of handmade crochet items and delicious taro chips, which were enjoyed by many participants throughout the event. It was a great opportunity for us, as student leaders, to showcase our skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.⭐️

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our booth and supported us by purchasing our products. Your support means a lot to us and helped make this experience even more meaningful.🧡🦅

As the highest student representative of the division, President Morecho has demonstrated that leadership is not defined by position alone, but by his leadership, service, and empowerment. May this achievement serve as an inspiration to young leaders across Northern Samar to continue striving for excellence in their communities.

Represented by its officers and delegates, the DFSSLG joined discussions, and collaborative activities centered on empowering the youth to become agents of positive change and community development. Their active involvement highlighted the organization’s commitment to advancing youth welfare, good governance, and active participation in local initiatives.

‎Mapalad ang sinumang may palad na matitingnan at mapagtatanungan kung saan siya dadalahin ng guhit ng kaniyang kapalaran.
‎
‎Ngunit sa kasamaang palad, may mga palad na walang ibang maituturo kundi ang mapait na reyalidad ng mapanghusgang lipunan.
‎
‎Madalas, nalilibot mo ang kalsada - maingay at dinig ang yapak ng bawat paa. Ngunit, ni isa sa kanila hindi mo kilala. Isang patunay na hindi lahat ay makikilala ng iyong mga mata - iba pa rin 'pag nakausap at nakasama mo na. Tulad na lamang ng tatlong araw na pagtitipon upang isagawa ang Ibabao Youth Summit 2026 na binubuo ng mga kabataan mula sa iba't ibang organisasyon at munisipalidad ng Hilagang Samar. Dito sila nabigyan ng pagkakataon na makihalubilo sa iba. Kaniya-kaniyang interaksyon, ngunit iba-iba ang istorya ng buhay. May mga nakangiti, subalit sa loob lumuluha. ‎Ngayon, nais kong kilalanin nating lahat ang istorya ng isang taong isinilang na may dugong matapang. Hindi lamang isang simpleng bata, kundi isang modelo para sa karamihan. Taong may pangarap para sa pamilya at sa komunidad.
‎
‎Sa isang maunlad na munisipalidad ng Bobon, Hilagang Samar, naninirahan ang mag-asawang sina Liesel D. Morecho at Efren D. Morecho. Sila ay may limang anak na binubuhay sa pamamagitan ng pagbebenta ng sariwang isda at karne. Sa ilalim ng mainit na tirik ng araw, sinisikap nilang magtrabaho para sa pantawid gutom ng kanilang pamilya. Kaya naman, hindi nakapagtatakang mabiyayaan sila ng isang mabuti at masipag na anak - batang puno ng pag-asa at naghahangad na maging isang mahusay na abogado at lingkod-bayan. Siya ay walang iba kundi si Christian D. Morecho, 17 na taong gulang at kasalukuyang mag-aaral sa Bobon School for Philippine Craftsmen (BSPC) at kabilang sa iba't ibang organisasyon sa paaralan at komunidad.

Subalit, sa hindi inaasahang pangyayari, si Christian ay isinilang bilang isang Person With Disability. Hindi niya maiwasan ang makarinig ng masasamang komento dahil sa kaniyang kalagayan. Aniya, "Iba ang aking pananaw sa mundo dahil alam ko kung gaano kahirap kumilos nang tila walang nakakakita o nakakaunawa sa amin. Mahirap tanggapin ng lipunang kinabibilangan ang mga taong may kapansanan, lalo na kapag may mga pangungutya, paghusga, at mga tanong kung kaya ba naming manguna kahit ganito kami."

‎Puno man ng hindi kaaya-ayang mga salita ang kaniyang tainga, hindi ito naging hadlang upang hindi siya magpatuloy sa buhay. Sa halip na panghinaan ng loob, ginagawa niya itong inspirasyon. Wika pa niya, ito ay nagsisilbing gasolina niya upang mas pagbutihin pa lalo ang kaniyang angking kakayahan at talento. Dagdag pa niya, "Ang bawat pagsubok ay nagsisilbing paalala upang lalo kong pagtibayin ang aking loob at ihanda ang sarili sa mas malalaking hamon na aking kakaharapin sa buhay."

‎Bukod sa hirap ng pagiging PWD, isa rin sa kaniyang mga hamon ang kahirapan at hindi maayos na sistema ng pamahalaan. "Hindi madaling manirahan sa bansang mahal mo ngunit mahirap ding ipaglaban," sambit ni Christian. Ngunit sa kasagsagan ng hirap, pinipili niyang maging matatag para sa mga pangarap. Naniniwala siyang ito ay magdadala sa kaniya upang maging tinig ng pag-asa para sa iba, sapagkat mahalagang maging liwanag tayo na magbibigay inspirasyon at pag-asa sa ating kapwa - sa gitna ng dilim at kahirapan.

‎Sa huli, nais niyang mag-iwan ng makabuluhang mensahe para sa kapwa niya batang nangangarap: "Para sa mga kabataan nowadays, let's just continue to make a difference in our community. Let's be the change-makers and don't be afraid to go out and experience the life, lalo na sa hirap ng buhay ngayon. Experience the luxury of life, dahil lahat ng nangyayari sa ating buhay, ay may dahilan. As I always say, let them and let God. Nais kong itatak sa kanila na every challenge that comes, dapat ginagamit natin ito as motivation to keep on moving, to keep on going."

‎Muli, siya sa Christian Morecho, isang batang puno ng pag-asa at liwanag. Kumakapit sa mga katagang: "Let them and let God" sa lipunang puno ng mga taong mapagmataas at mapanghusga sa buhay na mayroon siya.
‎
‎Ang kaniyang kwento ay representasyon ng katatagan ng bawat Pilipino. Sa kabila ng kahirapan at sitwasyon bilang PWD, pinapahalagan niya pa rin ang buhay na ipinagkaloob ng Diyos. Kung tingin ng iba na may kulang sa kaniya, para kay Christian, buong-buo ang kaniyang pagkatao sapagkat unti-unti niyang natutupad ang kaniyang mga pangarap - sa maliit man na anyo ng tagumpay.

Kailanma'y hindi naging hadlang ang kaniyang kapansanan upang sumuko. Sa halip, mas pinagbubutihan pa niya ang kaniyang pag-aaral. Tulad ng Siklab, nag-aalab din ang kaniyang paninindigan sa mga bagay na kaniyang pinaniniwalaan. Nawa'y magsilbing inspirasyon pa ng mas maraming bata ang kwento niya. Padayon, Christian!

You will realize that she never asked for anything in return, never complained, never counted the cost—𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙥𝙖𝙮𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩.

The Division Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government successfully held its second online meeting via Google Meet at around 6:00 PM last Thursday, May 7, 2026.

During the meeting, the officers discussed the upcoming activities, initiatives, and plans of the organization. The meeting served as an opportunity for the officers to share ideas, plans and information.
