YOUTH LEADERS UNITE FOR SUSTAINABILITY AT PROVINCIAL YOUTH CONGRESS 2025
TAGUM CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE — Young leaders from across the province gathered on November 29, 2025, at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex for the Provincial Youth Congress (PYC) 2025, anchored on the theme “Local Youth Actions for SDGs and Beyond.” The annual convergence highlighted the province’s commitment to empowering the youth as key partners in governance, sustainability, and community transformation.
The congress was attended by key provincial youth development officials, led by Giovanni I. Gulanes, Department Head of the Provincial Sports and Youth Development Office (PSYDO), and Hon. Helen Mae I. Discaya, SK Provincial Federation President. SK Federation Presidents from various municipalities and cities also joined the event, forming a strong collective voice for youth leadership in Davao del Norte.
Carmen Youth Leaders Show Strong Presence
The Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation of Carmen, through the supervision of Mr. Marnie D. Cabahug, LYDO Designate, actively participated in the PYC 2025, proudly representing the municipality in competitive activities. Their involvement underscored Carmen’s continued support for youth empowerment and its alignment with the congress theme, which promotes localized, youth-driven, sustainable development.
Delegates from Carmen showcased exceptional skills and teamwork in the various competitions, earning several recognitions for the municipality. Their performance reflected not only athletic and intellectual ability, but also unity and discipline rooted in community leadership.
Hon. Jeofil E. Patiño, SK Chairperson of Brgy. Asuncion and Hon. Liliboy M. Sustine, SK Chairperson of Brgy. Guadalupe, both leaders proudly represented the Municipality of Carmen as delegates in the Tagisan Ng Talino, where they showcased exceptional knowledge, confidence, and teamwork. Their performance earned Carmen the First Place award, bringing pride to their barangays and to the municipality.

Third Runner-Up – Chinese Garter
Third Runner-Up – Tumba Lata
Third Runner-Up – Piko (represented by Mr. Mark Anthony Antonio)
These achievements highlighted the talent and competitiveness of Carmen’s youth delegation, further boosting the municipality’s pride and representation in the province-wide event.
A Call for Continued Youth-Driven Action
As the congress concluded, provincial leaders emphasized the importance of sustained youth participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They encouraged delegates to bring home the insights gained from the congress and translate them into concrete programs that address community needs — from environmental initiatives to education, youth welfare, and local economic growth.
With strengthened partnerships and empowered youth leaders, the Provincial Youth Congress 2025 reaffirmed Davao del Norte’s commitment to cultivating a dynamic, proactive, and sustainability-driven generation of young Filipinos.
