Bakhaw is more than just a treeโฆ
๐ฟ It traps carbon up to four times more than land forests, helping fight climate change.
๐๏ธ It shields our shores from erosion, strong waves, and storms.
๐ Itโs home to countless species, from crabs and mollusks to fish and birds.
๐ฃ It supports local livelihoods through fishing, gleaning, and eco-tourism.
And many more!
But despite its importance, bakhaw is disappearing. Over ๐๐% of the worldโs mangrove forests have already been lost due to aquaculture, urban expansion, tourism, pollution, and the worsening impacts of climate change.
This loss reflects a deeper As the climate crisis worsens, it is the next generation that will bear the harshest impacts of environmental decline. Thatโs why mangrove conservation is not just environmentalโ it's generational.
Though the challenges are great, the opportunity to make a difference remains within our reach. With collective effort and enduring commitment, we can protect what remains and restore what was lost.
