Plastic to Groceries: Trading Trash to a Necessity

Who knew cleaning up could be so rewarding? Today, we turned plastic waste into household essentials with our "Plastic to Groceries" exchange!
The deal was simple: 1 sack of plastic waste = 1 bar of detergent. 🧺✨

It’s a small trade that makes a massive impact. By collecting these sacks, we aren't just cleaning our streets and homes— our neighbors get a little extra help with their daily chores!

A huge shoutout to everyone who participated and brought in their sacks today, especially the two children of Mr. and Mrs. Skadkjaer who actively participated in this activity. You’ve proven that environmental care and community support go hand-in-hand! 🌏🤝

🌊 Protecting Our Coasts, One Root at a Time! 🌿

Today was about more than just getting our hands dirty—it was about securing the future of our shorelines.
Our team headed out for a Mangrove Planting and Coastal Cleanup Drive together with Sinaya Seafoods, Skadkjaer Family and Barangay and SK officials with their players. From gathering and planting of Mangrove propagules to collecting plastic debris along the shoreline, the energy was incredible!

Why Mangroves? These "guardians of the coast" aren’t just beautiful—they are powerhouses for the planet for they protect our inland communities from waves and erosion, stores way more carbon than most land-based forests and serves as shelter and nursery grounds for various aquatic species.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up for the environment, and proved that small actions lead to big waves of change. Let’s keep this momentum going! 🌍💙

Mangrove Planting Activity – January 25, 2026

Mandatory for all 15U and 18U Basketball and Badminton players.
This is one of the requirements for all players and promotes playing with purpose by encouraging the youth to help maintain and protect our coastal area.

Program:
5:00 AM – Attendance
6:00 AM – Orientation on Proper Mangrove Planting
6:10 AM – Start of Seed Collection
6:30 AM – Start of Mangrove Planting
8:00 AM – Giving Appreciation to the Smart Youth Organization for Maintaining and Protecting Our Coastal Area
8:30 AM – Closing Remarks

Groups will be assigned to different areas:

Group 3 – Team Andrew

Impressive Feat!

SMMART Youth Organization bagged as 3rd Place in the Booth Display Contest during the Agro-Aqua Skill and Product Expo in celebration of Semana sang Banwa and Kapiyestahan ni Santa Teresa de Avila, last October 12, 2025.

The active leaders, and members of the group showcased their skills and creativity that truly highlights the agriculture, and fisheries. Indeed, their excellence is fascinating and always ready to take any challenges.

However, this would not be possible without the pilar of support of the SMMART Youth Adviser, Mrs. Reynilda Partida, for the unending help. To LGU of Carles, especially to Sir LM Betita, for letting the organization shine and supported. To Hon. Arnold T. Betita II, Mayor of Carles and Robbic B. Tuma-ob, Municipal Agriculturist I, for the all-out support in the field of fisheries and agriculture. Your exquisite assistance, made the group org. ought to more excellence.
