Barangay Buenavista youths clinched Best Team, while team representative Ghean Watin was named Best Muse among 15 barangays during the Carcar City F.U.T.U.R.E. Youth Vacation & C.I.F.S.A. League 2026 opening ceremony on May 17 at the Carcar City Hall Peopleโs Park.
Watin, who is also the reigning Best Muse of the Rhea Gullas Cup crowned on August 23, 2025 in San Fernando town under Cebuโs 1st District, added another distinction to her growing list of titles.
Meanwhile, Buenavistaโs Best Team award marked its second title following its 2023 victory under then FYO president and now SK member Hon. Jonibel S. Traya. The recognition returned this year under current FYO president Ms. Crystabelle Tingson, further strengthening the barangayโs grassroots sports program.
For the first time, Buenavista also secured the Best Muse title, adding another milestone in the leagueโs opening ceremonies.
Athletes from basketball and volleyball, both menโs and womenโs divisions, took a sportsmanship oath, underscoring discipline, respect, and fair play as core values of the competition.
The opening rites were graced by Mayor Patrick Barcenas, Vice Mayor Atty. Hervy Perkin De Dios, Councilors Roy Velez and Atty. Michelle Amistad-Zozobrado, former City Councilor Harlod Nacua, SK Federation President Jhesidy Thea G. Alberca, LYDO designate Alberto Lastima Jr., and other guests and adjudicators.
The achievement was made possible through the support and guidance of Buena-Youth leaders led by SK Chairperson Hon. Sachi Mae J. Saraum, Katipunan ng Kabataan President Ms. Crystabelle Tingson, SK Sports Committee Chairperson Hon. Axel Clyde Yuson, together with the SK Council and the F.U.T.U.R.E. Youth Organization officers.
This league serves as a youth development platform that builds discipline, teamwork, and resilience while promoting healthy competition. Beyond trophies and titles, it reinforces values of unity, respect, and perseverance that extend beyond the playing courts into everyday life.
