There was so much excitement when the 5x5 basketball intramurals started on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at exactly nine o'clock in the morning. “We had students from all the grades rooting for their teams and we had a lot of energy, it was very competitive. The first game was Grade 9 and 10 versus the mixed team of grade 8 and 11. Both teams were well organized and very aggressive, which sets the standard for a great tournament.
The court sizzled all day with heated plays, quick breaks, and impressive rebounds. Every team had its own strategy, with Grade 9 and 10 players using speed and agility while Grade 8 and 11 demonstrated a more tactical ball movement. Fans enjoyed exciting plays, such as buzzer-beating baskets and late-game defensive stands. The roar of the crowd reverberated around the campus and was a tonic for the players.
As the contest went on, it was clear that the final game would be Grade 11 and 8 against powerhouse pair of Grade 7 and 12. It was evident from the opening tip-off that this Grade 7-12 combination made a positive impact by combining some youth with senior experience. Their team play and pinpoint shooting allowed them to take an early lead that they protected with tight defense and intelligent rotations.
The finals was a battle of grit and emotion. The players from Grade 11 and 8 played with determination, never giving up but the combination between younger and older players on the other team was very difficult to break. Each basket helped inch the Grade 7 and 12 team closer to victory, and with their final score they were champions of the intramurals. When the buzz went off, there was an explosion in the crowd and their cheer.

This year's series of intramurals not only produced winners, it showcased camaraderie and the sporting spirit among la salle Students. The mixture of grades promoted mentorship, comradeship and respect for each other. Players and fans alike left with lasting impressions of great games and wonderful performances as the tournament closed. It was a Grade 7 and 12 match victory that will always be viewed collaboration and supremacy on the court.
