Puso sa Piso Advocacy
Here in the Philippines, poverty remains a challenge and has seen none or little change for the past years. According to the National Statistical Coordination Board, more than one quarter of Filipinos fall below the poverty line, which means more than 25 million people in the Philippines earn less than 8,000 pesos a month. Basic necessities like food, shelter, and education cannot be sustained by such a small amount of income, especially when it is a household with a big family. Poverty in the country is an issue that became too big to solve for decades.
In some areas of Tarlac, this problem is felt by many. From the indigenous people who depend on selling root crops to feed their families, to the homeless street children that beg for money, poverty is evident in the province of Tarlac. Indeed, poverty cannot be solved in one go, but small acts of kindness and generosity can produce a big impact in the lives of people.
One peso is not much, and can be seen as almost worthless in today’s economy, but one peso in multitudes can be of great of value. Like that single peso, Puso sa Piso is a small non-profit advocacy that shows the smallest things can produce the biggest outcomes. Aimed to help the needy in the vicinity of Tarlac, the charitable organization will depend on voluntary donations from people.
