In solemn reflection, the Mission of Cadapdapan gathered to meditate on the Seven Last Words of Jesus, each word a powerful reminder of His mercy, love, and forgiveness.
Through His final moments on the cross, we are called to renew our faith, forgive as we have been forgiven, and trust in God's divine will.
1. “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Luke 23:34
A word of forgiveness — Jesus forgives even in His suffering. May we learn to forgive as He forgave.
2. “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:43
A word of salvation — A promise of hope for those who turn to Him, even at the last moment.
3. “Woman, behold your son. Son, behold your mother.”
John 19:26-27
A word of relationship — Jesus gives us Mary as our spiritual mother, even in His final moments.
4. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34
A word of abandonment — Jesus shares in our deepest pain and loneliness, showing He is with us in our suffering.
5. “I thirst.”
John 19:28
A word of distress — Jesus, fully human, expresses physical thirst—but also a spiritual thirst for souls.
6. “It is finished.”
John 19:30
A word of completion — The mission of love and redemption is fulfilled. Salvation is accomplished.
7. “Father, into Your hands I commend my spirit.”
Luke 23:46
A word of reunion — Jesus entrusts His spirit to the Father, showing us the way to surrender completely to God.
Together as one community, the Mission of Cadapdapan reflected on these powerful words that echo the depth of Christ’s love. May His sacrifice guide us to live lives of mercy, faith, and hope.
