AFP Brings Indung Tibuan to Life in LUALU Cosplay Competition

The Association of Future Psychologists proudly competed in LUALU: Sikolohistang Magiting King Pambitan, a mythology cosplay showcase themed Kapampangan and Tagalog Gods and Goddesses. Joined by participants from 10 universities, AFP presented Indung Tibuan, the Kapampangan mother deity and protector of nature, symbolizing life, healing, and the deep connection between people and the environment.

The cosplay was modeled, worn, and showcased by Natania Mae Isla (BSP 3B), who embodied the strength, grace, and nurturing spirit of Indung Tibuan on stage. Through costume design and performance, AFP highlighted Indigenous identity, culture, and mythology.

This presentation was made possible by the dedication and creativity of the AFP members who worked tirelessly to conceptualize and craft the costume:

AFP Clinches 1st Runner Up in Regional Declamation Competition

The Association of Future Psychologists (AFP) earned 1st Runner Up in the Declamation Contest at the 11th Regional Psychology Convention held at Holy Angel University, competing against representatives from nine universities across the region.

The award winning performance was delivered by Reian Onia of BSP 2A and Bivian Pascua of BSP 2B, who presented their original piece titled “Alab ng Nakaraan, Usok at Abo ng Kasalukuyan.” The work was written by the participants themselves in line with the contest theme “Magayon at Panganoron: Pighating Ipinasa ng Nakaraan.”

Through powerful delivery and poetic expression, the piece explored intergenerational pain, grief, and sacrifice, drawing inspiration from the tragic love story of Daragang Magayon and Panganoron. The performance highlighted how historical trauma, social injustice, and collective loss continue to shape the present generation, earning recognition for its depth, relevance, and emotional impact.

The team was mentored by Ma’am Leslie Fernando, whose guidance and support contributed significantly to the success of the performance.

STAY HYDRATED, STAY SILENT?

When Awareness Stops at Posting and Action Refuses to Follow

The university knows.
It posted the heat index.
It warned us to stay hydrated.
It told us to be careful under “extreme caution.”

But after the infographics, after the captions, after the public acknowledgment that the heat is dangerous - the action stopped.

While students walk into classrooms that feel like ovens, the administration sits in air-conditioned offices and tells us to endure.

This is not ignorance.
This is awareness without accountability.

The university itself confirmed how severe the heat index has become temperatures reaching levels that pose real health risks. Heat cramps. Heat exhaustion. Heat stroke. These were not rumors from students; these were official warnings released by the university. And yet, despite this admission, the decision was clear: classes will continue face-to-face.

What does that say?

That the danger is real - but only worth posting about.

That student welfare is acknowledged - but not prioritized.

Students have spoken. Loudly. Consistently. Desperately.

We commute under the scorching sun, fighting for space in overcrowded jeeps where drivers no longer stop at the university because it’s “punuan na.” Big buses pass us by. Fares continue to rise, turning education into a daily financial burden. By the time we arrive on campus, we are already drained physically and mentally.

Then we step into classrooms with poor ventilation, broken electric fans, or none at all. Rooms where air barely moves. Where sweat replaces focus. Where learning competes with survival.

Meanwhile, the solution exists.

CHED has already stated that online classes are allowed. Other universities, including state universities, have chosen to prioritize student welfare by shifting modalities when conditions become unsafe. The option is legal. The option is available. The option is proven.

Yet here, it is rejected.

Why?

Instead of protection, we are given a familiar demand: resilience.

Be resilient.
Endure the heat.
Endure the commute.
Endure the discomfort.
Endure the risk.

But resilience should never be an excuse for neglect.

Resilience is not sitting silently while students suffer.
Resilience is not forcing endurance when prevention is possible.
Resilience is not ignoring lived realities in favor of rigid systems.

What is being imposed is not resilience - it is sacrifice, demanded only from those without power.

You cannot warn us about heat dangers in the morning and dismiss those same dangers in the afternoon. You cannot post “stay hydrated” while denying the conditions that make staying safe possible. You cannot claim concern while choosing convenience over care.

This is not neutrality.
This is a decision - with consequences.

Students are not asking for comfort.
We are asking for safety.
We are asking for reason.
We are asking to be treated as human beings, not numbers expected to endure everything.

Awareness without action is performance.
And performance does not save students from heat stroke.

If the university can recognize the danger, it can respond to it.
If it can post warnings, it can implement solutions.
If it can listen, it must also act.

Because education should never come at the cost of health.

And silence, in the face of suffering, is not leadership.
