It is incredibly inspiring to look back at that collaboration. The Human Milk Bank Project at CCMC South is a shining example of what international Rotary partnerships can achieve.
By teaming up with the Rotary Club of Anyang East (South Korea, District 3750) for this Global Grant, the Rotary Club of Kalookan North successfully addressed a critical gap in local neonatal care.
The Impact of the Collaboration
Life-Saving Technology: The core of these specialized Global Grants typically funds a heavy-duty human milk pasteurizer, medical-grade freezers, and sterile processing equipment. This allows the hospital to safely collect, screen, pasteurize, and store breast milk.
Serving Vulnerable Infants: The facility provides "liquid gold" directly to premature, low-birth-weight, and critically ill babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) whose mothers cannot immediately produce milk.
Sustained Maternal Health: Beyond the hardware, these projects create a lasting framework for lactation counseling and community milk-letting drives, ensuring the bank remains fully stocked.
This project beautifully bridges international fellowship with deep local community impact, saving the lives of countless fragile newborns. It is definitely a milestone that the club can carry with immense pride, especially as you celebrate 35 years of service!
