"On August 27, 1667, the ship passed through the celebrated yet treacherous embocaderoโ€”the San Bernardino Straitโ€”just above the Visayan island of Samar. From there, it sailed into the vast blue ocean, as the silent peaks of Ibabao (Samar) slowly faded and finally disappeared into the horizon.

That was the last time Pedro Calungsod ever gazed upon his beloved Philippines."

Today, we took our first step toward this yearโ€™s Bowls of Hope Mission as we visited Tanza, Navotas, one of the communities under the Diocese of Kalookanโ€”our home diocese. ๐Ÿ™

Sa aming pagbisita, sinimulan nating kilalanin ang komunidad at hanapin ang mga pamilyang mangingisda na magiging bahagi ng ating misyon. Nagkaroon din tayo ng initial interview at pakikipag-ugnayan sa kanilang Parish Priest na si Fr. Abet Caballero at CSSD ng Sta. Cruz Parish upang mas maunawaan ang pangangailangan ng komunidad at kung paano tayo makapaglilingkod nang higit na makabuluhan.
