In celebration of ๐ช๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ปโ๐ ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ต, SMART Club honors women in the field of mathematics who have made significant contributions to the body of knowledge, but sadly, their stories are quietly removed from the narrative. This womenโs month, we highlight brilliant women in history as a tribute to their courage and brilliance. A celebration of their remarkable minds that have shaped and inspired future generations.
For all of the women who helped shape the world through their creative and critical thinking skills by conceptualizing theories, formulating equations, doing the impossible, and most importantly, doing what men can do. This month, SMART Club gives the proper recognition to these women who helped change the whole world. SMART Club not only gives praise to these Women, but to all women of the world. โBabae ka, at hindi Babae ka lang.โ You may be the next woman who will be recognized as a contributor in the field of mathematics and in the field of many other fields.
Here is a list of Women with their incredible discoveries that helped set the foundation for the bigger, brighter, and bolder future.
In ancient times (355-415 CE), ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฎ was a mathematician and philosopher from Alexandria who preserved and taught Greek mathematics. She is also recognized as the first-well documented female mathematician.
(1997-2017), who is the first Iranian woman to win the Fields Medal in 2014, is known for her groundbreaking research that advanced the understanding of hyperbolic geometry and Riemann surfaces. She demonstrated extraordinary talent from a young age, winning gold medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
(1858-1931) was a British mathematician who established algebraic geometry and helped expand opportunities for women in higher mathematics education in the United States.
(1882-1935) was a German mathematician who developed Noetherโs Theorem, which served as the foundation of modern physics, and made a major contribution to abstract algebra and theoretical physics. In Mathematics, she is one of the pioneers of Abstract Algebra, having the Theory of Noetherian Rings. Her theory is now a major idea of abstract algebra and geometry.
(1850-1891) was a Russian mathematician who made contributions to mathematical physics and became the first woman in modern Europe to earn a doctorate in mathematics. A pioneer in mathematics who is known for her Cauchy- Kovalevskaya theorem.
(1815-1852) was an English mathematician who wrote the first algorithm for a machine, making her widely known as the first computer programmer. She helped revolutionize the trajectory of the computer industry. She is considered the first person to recognize that computers had a much larger potential than mathematical calculation.
