FILIPINO WORKERS ARE NOT ARROGANT—WE ARE UNDERPAID!

The Young Workers League (YWL) strongly condemns BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. for blaming the weak Philippine peso on Filipinos' alleged "arrogance" and "consumption culture." We reject this out-of-touch statement, which deeply insults millions of young workers struggling to survive.

The Weak Peso is a Failure of Policy, Not Public Discipline. The peso is weak not because of ordinary citizens' lack of discipline, but rather because of structural government failures:

● INDUSTRIAL NEGLECT DRIVES IMPORT DEPENDENCY: Decades of failure to build robust domestic manufacturing and agricultural industries force the country to import fuel, rice, and basic goods. This constant demand for foreign currencies systematically devalues our own peso.

● CORRUPTION DRAINS NATIONAL WEALTH: Widespread corruption and questionable infrastructure projects bleed billions in public funds out of the economy, scaring away stable foreign direct investments that could otherwise strengthen our currency.

● SURVIVAL IS NOT A LUXURY: Ordinary Filipinos spend on skyrocketing food, rent, utilities, and transport costs, not luxury items.

● YOU CANNOT SAVE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE: Workers lack the money to save, not the discipline. Low wages and high inflation leave them with nothing.

● STOP BLAMING THE PUBLIC: The BSP must perform its core duty of managing the currency instead of unfairly shifting the blame onto hard-working citizens.

● TAX BILLIONAIRES, NOT THE POOR: The government must enforce progressive taxation on wealthy corporations and billionaires rather than aggressively squeezing minimum-wage earners and digital workers.

✊REJECT CORPORATE EXPLOITATION! FIGHT FOR SOVEREIGN NATIONAL INDUSTRIALIZATION!✊

The Young Workers League (YWL) stands in firm solidarity with the Aeta communities and peasant farmers of Tarlac in fiercely opposing the 1,600-hectare Pax Silica hub in New Clark City. We refuse to let our lands, resources, and sovereignty be pawned off for foreign corporate gain! ❌🇵🇭

Pax Silica is a blueprint for exploitation, not progress. While it promises "innovation," the reality on the ground tells a devastating story:

⚠️ Sovereignty for Sale: Bypassing local laws with 99-year foreign land leases and outsourcing legal disputes to a New York Court of Commerce.

⚠️ Human Rights Violations: Displacing indigenous Aeta families without genuine Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and evicting over 500 farming families.

⚠️ Ecological Crisis: Sucking up 90 million liters of water daily, starving local agriculture during severe El Niño droughts, and threatening the food security of 600,000 Filipinos.

WE DO NOT NEED MORE FOREIGN ENCLAVES THAT TREAT FILIPINO WORKERS AS CHEAP LABOR.

The youth demands a radical shift. True progress does not come from being a mere outsourced assembly line.

We call for Genuine National Industrialization:

🔹 Mandatory Technology Transfer: Foreign investments must legally pass down technical know-how to build local capabilities.

🔹 Sovereign Tech & R&D: Invest heavily in Filipino scientists, engineers, and state-backed research to develop our own domestic semiconductor and AI industries.

🔹 Pro-People Development: Industrialization must protect our environment, respect ancestral domains, and uphold the rights of working-class Filipinos.Our future is not for sale. We call on all young workers, students, and citizens to join the fight!

Nanawagan ang Workers for People’s Liberation (WPL) kay 𝘿𝙊𝙇𝙀 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙣𝙖 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙍𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 (IRR) para sa Wage Order No. 27 na ipinasa ng Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – NCR (RTWPB-NCR). Ang hakbang na ito ay kinakailangan upang maipatupad na ang ₱85.00 𝙙𝙖𝙜𝙙𝙖𝙜 𝙨𝙖𝙝𝙤𝙙 na matagal nang hinihintay ng mga manggagawa sa Metro Manila.

𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙣 𝙥𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙥𝙖𝙙 𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙖𝙜𝙙𝙖𝙜 𝙨𝙖𝙝𝙤𝙙. Nasa mandato ng Kalihim ng Paggawa ang paglalabas ng IRR—Ang patuloy na pagkaantala ay nagbubukas ng pinto para sa iba pang mga kumpanya na gayahin ang ginawa ng tatlong kompanyang naghapag petisyon sa korte upang isabotahe ang pagpapatupad ng Wage Order No. 27.

Hindi maiaalis sa aming hanay ang hindi paglalabas ng IRR ay 𝙩𝙪𝙬𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙖 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖 kaysa sa kapakanan ng mga manggagawa—o mas masahol pa, may lihim na pagkakaunawaan sa pagitan ng mga negosyante at ng pamahalaan.
