“𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐚: 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐇𝐈𝐕, 𝐍𝐨 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫”

On August 14, 2026, students from the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management of National University Fairview, through the NU Fairview – Young Hospitality Students Guild, came together for an HIV/AIDS Seminar and free HIV testing focused on building awareness, promoting prevention, and encouraging responsible health practices.

The session featured STI 101, facilitated by Raffy Intes, and HIV 101, facilitated by Em Barrera, giving students a safe space to learn, ask questions, and have open conversations about sexual health.

More than just a seminar, it was a reminder that knowing the facts can help us make informed choices—and that getting tested is an act of taking care of ourselves and the people around us.

Athena by LoveYourself conducted a Facility-Based Outreach with Key Populations (KPs) in the community, including transgender individuals last August 12, 2026. The activity provided a safe and welcoming space to learn more about HIV, strengthen awareness, and encourage informed choices for better sexual health.

The session featured HIV 101, facilitated by Em Barrera, covering essential information on HIV transmission, prevention, testing, treatment, and the importance of knowing your status.

Because HIV education is more than information—it’s about empowering communities, breaking stigma, and making sure everyone has access to the care they deserve.

Taking care of others begins with learning how to take care of ourselves.

On August 8, 2026, Athena by LoveYourself gathered its staff and volunteers for Canvas of Self-Love: A Psychological First Aid (PFA) Session—a safe space to pause, reflect, reconnect, and strengthen the ways we care for ourselves and one another.

The session explored meaningful and practical tools for well-being, including:

Energy Takers vs. Energy Givers — recognizing what drains us and what helps us recharge.

4 Components of Self-Love — building a kinder and healthier relationship with ourselves.

4As of Stress Management — learning healthier ways to respond to stress.

PFA: Prepare, Look, Listen, Link — understanding how we can provide compassionate and supportive first-line assistance to someone in distress.

More than a session, Canvas of Self-Love was a reminder that we cannot pour from an empty cup. By caring for ourselves, we become more present, compassionate, and prepared to care for the people and communities we serve.
