The YES Leadership Programme, also known as YES Lead, launched in 2023 as a platform that equips student leaders with the skills to effectively manage school-based organizations through actual and solutions-based child and youth programming.

Since its inception, the programme—implemented in partnership with SIRAK Kabataan Coordinators and Kartilya Youth and Children Initiatives—has reached over 500 young people across Samar.

7 schools visited today for DSWD Tara Basa program officially started Sirak Coordinators Calbiga task to supervised, and documentation for this activity, Pagod pero puso ko ay puno. Seeing kids excited to read makes everything worth it!

Today, we kicked off the Tara, Basa Tutoring Program in Samar with 675 youth tutors and development workers. Simultaneous kick-off activities were held across various sites. In Pinabacdao, Mayor Via Mabag led the opening rites.

The program now expands to more areas including Basey, Santa Rita, Gandara, San Jorge, Paranas, Motiong, Jiabong, Santa Margarita, Matuguinao, Calbayog, Catbalogan, Pinabacdao, Villareal, Hinabangan and Calbiga.

The 675 youth will reach 2,500 learner-readers and 2,500 parents in their communities.

Thanks to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, Samar State University, and Northwest Samar State University.
