April 14, 2026: The Rotary Club of Calbayog visited the City Mayor’s Office for a meaningful and productive meeting with City Mayor Raymund Uy to discuss the implementation of a community project in Brgy Danao 2, specifically the construction of septic tanks, a centralized sewer system, and distribution of toilet bowls to 47 households (169 individuals), funded through an approved Rotary District Grant.

The discussion focused on strengthening sanitation initiatives, improving access to proper toilet facilities, and promoting behavioral change in the community. We are grateful for the Local Government of Calbayog’s commitment to partner with the Rotary Club of Calbayog to ensure the success and sustainability of this project.

Through this collaboration, we move closer to creating a cleaner, safer, and more dignified environment for every household in Danao 2.

Clean water, safe hands, brighter futures 💧👐

In line with the Rotary Club of Calbayog's commitment to promote health and well-being, our Rotary Project WASH successfully carried out the repair and restoration of a school handwashing facility located at Capoocan Elementary School. This initiative ensures that students and teachers now have access to clean, functional, and safe handwashing stations—an essential step in preventing the spread of illnesses and promoting proper hygiene practices.

The project included the fixing of water lines, improvement of drainage, and rehabilitation of handwashing areas to make them more accessible, durable, and child-friendly. By restoring these facilities, we help create a healthier school environment where learners can focus on their education with confidence and safety.

This effort is part of our continuing advocacy to support schools and communities through sustainable and impactful service projects. With the collective support of our partners and volunteers, we continue to make a difference—one wash station at a time.

Note: This is a continuous project, with the 2nd phase to be completed in May 2026, followed by a formal turnover before the school year for 2026-2027 starts in June 2026.

The Rotary Club Of Calbayog proudly partnered with the New Life Calbayog Dental Mission & Other Services held in Brgy. Cag-Anibong on April 9, 2026.

Through the collective efforts of Rotary Club of Greater Calbayog, Rotaract Club of Ibatan Calbayog, Rotaract Club of Greater Calbayog, Rotaract Club of Greater Northwest Samar State University, Rotaract Club of Christ the King College of Calbayog and Interact Club of Calbayog City High, free services were extended to the community. These included tooth extraction, blood sugar testing, blood typing, children’s feeding education, and counseling.

This meaningful outreach reflects our shared commitment to serving others, improving health, and making a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve.

On 12 April 1955, the polio vaccine💉 developed by Dr. Jonas Salk and his colleagues was officially declared "safe, effective, and potent."

This marked a critical turning point in the fight against this incurable disease. Now children could be protected from poliovirus, and within a few decades, Rotary would propose the seemingly impossible: eradicating polio for good.

𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 || Some members of the Rotary Club of Calbayog, led by Gamechanger President Irene Obong, convened for a productive meeting on March 24, 2026 to discuss and finalize key details for the upcoming Rotary District 3860 Conference (DisCon), which will be held in Cebu from May 29 to 31, 2026. The meeting focused on preparations for participation, including travel arrangements, registration updates, and coordination of activities during the conference.

In addition, the group reviewed the list of members who have already committed to attending the DisCon, ensuring proper documentation and timely follow-up. Special attention was also given to those who have pledged to become Paul Harris Fellows, with plans set in place to monitor their progress and provide necessary support to complete their commitments.

𝗥𝗘𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦: 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗦 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧

The Rotary Club Of Calbayog, together with the Rotaract Club of Ibatan-Calbayog, Rotaract Club of Christ the King College of Calbayog, and Interact Club of Calbayog City High, spearheaded a relief operation last Sunday, March 22, 2026 for families affected by a recent fire that destroyed more than twenty-nine homes in Barangay Jimautan.

A total of twenty-nine (29) households gratefully received thoughtfully prepared food packs, water, and essential supplies from club members. To help ease the burden on thirty-one (31) young learners, snacks, school supplies and underwear were also distributed to grade school children, offering comfort and encouragement during this challenging time.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner, the Department of Education led by Rotarian Bibay Matan, for the generous donation, and special thanks to the Barangay Council of Jimautan for their invaluable support.
