Out of the 58 total student votes cast in the election, ๐‘๐ก๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ง ๐‘๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฏ๐š led the official tally with 16 votes, closely followed by ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž ๐’๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ซ with 15 votes. ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ง ๐๐ข๐ง๐œ๐š๐ฌ secured 12 votes, while ๐‚๐ฒ๐œ๐š ๐Œ๐š๐ž ๐’๐š๐ฎ๐œ๐ž๐ซ๐จ and ๐‰๐š๐ง๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž ๐€๐ง๐ง ๐€๐ง๐ข๐›๐š๐ง received 9 and 6 votes, respectively.

The Department of Agriculture โ€“ Regional Field Office VIII (DA-RFO VIII), through the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), successfully conducted a Two-Day Specialized Training on Urban Agriculture on August 4โ€“5, 2026, at I's Plant Hotel & Restaurant, Calbayog City, Samar.

The two-day training was designed to strengthen the participants' knowledge, technical competencies, and entrepreneurial skills in urban agriculture by providing a comprehensive learning experience covering the entire value chainโ€”from production technologies to product development and marketing. Resource persons shared their expertise on key topics, including the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP) Interventions in Eastern Visayas and Marketing Urban Agriculture Products, Community Seed Banking and Heirloom Seeds, Urban Edible Landscaping, Soil Media Formulation and Preparation, and Advanced Training on Hydroponic Systems and Nutrient Management.

Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and practical learning sessions, participants gained valuable insights into sustainable urban agriculture practices, innovative production technologies, seed conservation, hydroponic systems, and effective marketing strategies.

The activity was implemented in partnership with Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) for the benefit of Agriculture students and members of the 4-H SMART Organization.

The successful conduct of the training was made possible through the assistance of Dr. Archie B. Lauderes of NwSSU and in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office of Calbayog City.

This training reaffirmed DA-RFO VIII's commitment to empowering future agricultural professionals and youth leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote food security, sustainable urban food production, and agripreneurship in their respective communities.

Last July 22, 2026 marks the official turnover of funds of the 4-H SMART Organization.
