Today, at College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) building 4th Floor, Room 402, the Quick Response Team (QRT) successfully conducted its Orientation and Interview for new recruitment applicants.

A total of 17 aspiring recruits were present and participated, alongside with other QRT personnel and officers who came to give support and assistance. The attendance was facilitated by the QRT Assistant Administration Section Chief Ms. Jemica C. Tepase, who efficiently handled the registration and monitoring of the aspirants.

The event began with the singing of the National Anthem and a prayer, followed by the opening remarks delivered by the QRT Commander, Ms. Shairelle Dalicano.

The QRT Deputy Commander, Mr. Christopher Serrato, presented the history and background of QRT, giving everyone a clear understanding of the unit’s purpose, journey, and milestones. Followed by other QRT Officers who are respected to dicussed- the organization’s functions, duties, trainings and benefits, personnel, equipments, membership, its by laws, the Rules and Regulations, and and what it means to be part of the team.

We were also honored by the presence of our Adviser, Mr. Eugene C. Calumba, who guided the activity and showed his full support for the recruitment process. After the orientation, the screening continued with the personal interviews, allowing us to get to know the aspiring members better and assess their readiness to serve.

The event proceeded with the Retraining of QRT Personnel at 11:30am and ended at 2:00pm. It was held at the Ground Floor near at QRT Office. This session was designed to test and enhance their communication skills, teamwork, and knowledge. Personnels were grouped into pairs, and activities included challenges where members were blindfolded to refresh or to test their coordination, sense of balance, and ability to execute proper transportation procedures.

It was a productive and meaningful day filled with learning and commitment. We look forward to welcoming the new members who will carry on the mission and vision of QRT.

DAY 2

The PATHFIT Culmination Activity continued with renewed energy and enthusiasm as 2nd-year students took center stage for the continuation of PATHFIT 4 events. The day was full of competitive yet friendly competition, featuring Futsal and Volleyball matches held at the University Courts, culminating in a vibrant Folk Dance Competition at the BDC 3rd Floor.

Participants showcased not only their physical abilities and athletic skills but also their grace, cultural appreciation, and strong sense of teamwork. The atmosphere remained lively and spirited, reflecting the university’s commitment to holistic development and active living.

Throughout the day, the Quick Response Team (QRT) stood by with vigilance and readiness, monitoring the safety of all participants. Their strategic presence allowed students to fully enjoy the games and performances with peace of mind, knowing that safety and assistance were readily available. The seamless coordination between organizers and safety personnel contributed to the smooth flow of activities.

As the day wrapped up, it left behind cherished memories of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and cultural pride. The success of Day 2 was a testament to the dedication of the students and the unwavering support of the QRT, reinforcing the values of health, unity, and service within the NwSSU community.

IN PHOTOS || MAY 6, 2026 (5:00AM-5:00PM) DAY 1 The PATHFIT 2 Fitness Competition and PATHFIT 4 activities brought energy and excitement to the university community. Students showcased their skills in Arnis, Futsal, Volleyball, and Team Building events. These activities were held across the oval ground, tennis court, university court, and BDC 4th floor for the folk dance competition. Participants demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the event. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as everyone gathered to celebrate fitness and culture. To ensure the safety of all participants, the Quick Response Team (QRT) remained alert and responsive throughout the event. A total of five teams were strategically deployed in different venues to provide immediate assistance when needed. Their presence gave confidence to both participants and spectators, knowing that help was always available. Each activity ran smoothly due to the organized coordination between event facilitators and safety personnel. The QRT’s dedication highlighted their commitment to protecting and serving the university community.

PATHFIT events were a great success, combining physical fitness, teamwork, and cultural expression. The cooperation of students, organizers, and the QRT contributed to a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Such events strengthen unity and promote a healthy lifestyle among participants. The presence of a well-prepared safety team ensured that all activities were conducted without major concerns. These moments will surely leave lasting memories and inspire future events to be even better.

IN PHOTOS || MAY 2-3, 2026 The 9th Annual Kampo Kalikasan of the BS Environmental Science (BSES) program unfolded with vibrant energy at the Oval Ground and CCJS rooftop. Guided by the theme “Strengthening Camaraderie for Lasting Impact Through Leadership and Location”, the gathering brought together students, leaders, and advocates in a celebration of unity and environmental stewardship. Throughout the two-day event, participants engaged in activities that fostered teamwork, leadership, and a deeper connection to nature. The Quick Response Team stood vigilant and dedicated, ensuring safety and readiness during the festivities. Their presence highlighted the spirit of responsibility and service that underpins true leadership. The venue itself spanning the Oval Ground and CCJS rooftop symbolized the balance between open collaboration and elevated vision, perfectly aligning with the program’s mission.

MAY 1 || 6:00AM-5:00PM The Quick Response Team (QRT) personnel successfully conducted a whole-day retraining activity aimed at strengthening their emergency response skills and readiness. The retraining was held both outside the QRT office and at the oval ground, providing a practical and realistic environment for learning. Under the guidance of our senior trainer, Mr. Viner Abucay, participants actively engaged in essential drills such as T-bandaging, Basic First Aid (BFA), and proper patient transportation. Each activity focused on enhancing the team’s ability to respond efficiently and effectively during real-life emergencies. The hands-on training ensured that every member refreshed their knowledge and improved their confidence in handling critical situations.
This retraining highlights the commitment of the QRT personnel to continuous learning and service excellence. With improved skills and teamwork, the group is now better prepared to respond swiftly and provide quality assistance in times of need.

IN PHOTOS II March 26, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, a successful Fire Drill was conducted at NWSSU, demonstrating preparedness and coordination in times of emergency. Led by Commander Shairelle Delicano, together with the Planning Section Chief, the activity involved five (5) teams strategically deployed to carry out their respective duties. The drill was conducted in collaboration with the Calbayog City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), ensuring that proper safety protocols and emergency response procedures were effectively practiced. The participants showed discipline, teamwork, and readiness throughout the exercise, highlighting the importance of being alert and prepared in any situation.

This fire drill served as a valuable reminder that preparedness saves lives. Through the leadership of our officers and the cooperation of all participants, the activity was a success—reinforcing NWSSU’s commitment to maintaining a safe and disaster-ready environment for everyone.
