Recognizing that the strength of a home is built upon the physical and mental vitality of its members, the SOS Children's Village Calbayog conducted a series of Wellness Sessions for its program participants, caregivers, and coworkers, through the generous sponsorship of ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
The journey toward enhanced well-being began on March 28, 2026, with a session dedicated to discuss about the significant foundation of growth: Nutrition and Menu Planning. The village welcomed ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐. ๐๐๐๐จ๐ง๐ , a Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian from St. Camillus Hospital, who led the discussion. Mr. Labong provided a masterclass in strategic meal preparation, moving beyond the simple concept of providing food that will cater the needs of developing children. Through his expertise, participants explored how to design balanced, cost-effective menus that utilize local ingredients to combat malnutrition and sustain energy levels. This session underscored the philosophy that a well-planned plate is a child's first line of defense against illness and a primary driver of cognitive development.
The momentum continued today, April 8, 2026, with the "Choose Health Today" session. This gathering featured a dual perspective on health maintenance and emergency response, led by Maโam ๐๐๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ฒ๐ง ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐จ, a Registered Midwife, and Maโam ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ญ ๐. ๐๐ข๐๐จ๐ญ ๐๐ข๐๐จ๐ญ, a Registered Nurse, both from the City Health Office of Calbayog. Their combined expertise provided a comprehensive look at both long-term wellness and immediate clinical care. Maโam Mariano opened the dialogue by discussing simple, actionable steps to prevent chronic diseases, emphasizing the power of early detection and the integration of active lifestyle choices. Complementing the preventive focus, Maโam Libot Libot transitioned the discussion into the practical realm of first aid and the management of common childhood illnesses. As we know it, children are naturally prone to sudden fevers and minor injuries, so her training focused on building the confidence of caregivers to act decisively during medical concerns.
As an organization that has promised to provide and support its employees and participants, these sessions served as a testament to the organizationโs holistic approach to child care and its commitment as the best place to work.
