𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟖 | 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭

Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest, reminding us that Christ is the one true priest of the New and Eternal Covenant. Through His perfect sacrifice on the Cross, He continues to intercede for us before the Father and remains the center of the Church’s liturgy and worship.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:

“Jesus Christ, the one priest of the new and eternal Covenant, entered… into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.” (CCC 662)

In every celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Christ Himself acts through the ministry of priests, offering once more the sacrifice of salvation for the life of the world:

“It is Christ himself, the eternal high priest of the New Covenant, who, acting through the ministry of the priests, offers the Eucharistic sacrifice.” *(CCC 1410)*

On this feast, let us pray for all priests, seminarians, and those discerning their vocation, that they may faithfully imitate Christ, the Eternal High Priest, in humility, holiness, and loving service to God’s people.

What do our roots and foundations tell our actions and usage?

One of the most important paragraphs in Pope Leo XIV's new encyclical on AI:

“We cannot be satisfied with merely calling for the moralization of machines — the so-called 'alignment' of AI with human values — without also having the courage to insist on a further condition: the possibility of openly discussing the ethical frameworks involved and subjecting them to shared standards of social justice. Otherwise, those who control AI will impose their own moral vision, which will become the invisible infrastructure of these systems. A more moral AI is not enough if that morality is determined by a few. What is needed is a more active political involvement that is capable of slowing things down when everything is accelerating, and of protecting the opportunities for communities still to be able to participate and ask questions.”

𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟒 | 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬

Today, we also celebrate the feast of Mary, Help of Christians, a title that honors the Blessed Virgin Mary as a powerful protector, guide, and intercessor for the faithful.

This devotion has deep roots in Church history and became especially known after the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, which was attributed to Mary’s intercession through the Rosary. The feast was later officially established by Pope Pius VII in thanksgiving for Mary’s protection during difficult times for the Church.

Mary, Help of Christians, reminds us of the loving care of our Blessed Mother, who continually intercedes for her children and leads us closer to Jesus Christ. Through prayer, especially the Holy Rosary, Christians around the world seek her guidance, protection, and help in times of need.

St. John Bosco greatly promoted this devotion and entrusted his mission and the youth under his care to Mary’s protection.

As we honor Mary under this title, may we place our trust in her maternal care and ask for her continued prayers for the Church, our families, and the whole world.

O Mary, Pillar of the Church and Help of Christians, I ask you to keep me firm in my holy faith and to preserve in me the liberty of a child of God. With the help of grace, I promise obedience to the Holy Father, and to the bishops in communion with him, desiring only to live and to die in the bosom of the Catholic Faith, where only I can hope with certainty to attain eternal salvation.
