The vesting and blessing of the new members of the Ministry of Altar Servers was held during the Second Mass today at the Parish of St. Vincent Ferrer in Calape, as we celebrate the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Today’s Gospel reminds us that the Kingdom of Heaven is the greatest treasure we could ever have. Like the stories, we are challenged to let go of anything that distracts us from choosing God fully and wholeheartedly.

Sometimes we pay too much attention on temporary things without realizing that these do not last. The parable of the net reminds us that what we do matters. One day, we will be responsible for our actions, so let us choose to do what is right and good each day. This reminds us to set our priorities and to place God at the center of our lives. That following Him may require sacrifice, but it leads to true joy and fulfillment. We are also called to be like the wise steward, someone who not only learns but also impart values to others.

Let us recognize what really matters, to seek God above all, and to live a life that mirrors His love and goodness.

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the successful Launching of the Diocesan Youth Day 2027! Together, we witnessed the enthronement of the Diocesan Youth Cross and officially began our journey toward this much-awaited gathering of the young Church.

Inspired by the words of Jesus "Take courage, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33). As we look ahead to Diocesan Youth Day 2027 in Calape, Bohol, may we continue walking together as one Church, carrying the Cross of Christ with joy, courage, and unwavering faith.

Thank you to everyone who participated, served, and prayed with us during this meaningful celebration. This is only the beginningβ€”our journey has just begun!

This Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles gathered in the upper room. Though they were once afraid and uncertain about what would happen once they stepped outside, Jesus filled them with peace and breathed upon them the gift of the Holy Spirit, renewing their hearts and strengthening their faith.

Pentecost reminds us that God can transform fear into faith and weakness into strength. By breathing His Spirit upon the disciples, Jesus renewed them and called the Church to become a source of unity, reconciliation, hope, and love for the world. Until today, the Holy Spirit continues to guide people of every nation and culture, teaching us to understand, forgive, and care for one another.

As young people living in a generation full of pressure, confusion, and challenges, may we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us closer to God. May we use our voices, actions, and faith to inspire others, spread kindness, and become living witnesses of Christ’s love in our communities.

For a long time, my faith was fueled by the energy of the Parish Youth Ministry. It was where I grew, where I served, and where I felt most "at home" in my belief. But as life demanded more of meβ€”practical responsibilities, career steps, and the sacrifice of my timeβ€”I found myself drifting. That distance didn't just make me feel disconnected; it made me feel vulnerable. It forced me to ask a hard question: Is my faith built on the community, or is it built on Him?

The Gospel reminds us of the relationship between the Vine and the branches. I realized that while the ministry was a beautiful "garden" to grow in, my life source must come directly from the Vineβ€”Jesus himself. If I am only strong when I am surrounded by the ministry, then my faith is dependent on an environment rather than a person.

This period of "restart" is not a failure, it is an invitation to realize that: He is Constant, He doesn't just see the "Youth Leader"; He sees me. He loves me in my silence and my busyness just as much as He did in my most active service and He is the Source.

I am learning that my faith doesn't need a "crowd" to be valid; it just needs a "connection." He has a place for me, and that place is always found in Him, wherever I may go.

Gospel: John 10:1-10

In today's Gospel, Jesus describes Himself as the gate and the shepherdβ€”one who knows His sheep, calls them by name, and leads them to safety and life. The sheep follow Him because they recognize His voice as gentle, true, and guiding. He contrasts this with the voice of the thief, who brings harm, while He comes to give life in abundance. Through Him, there is freedom, protection, and a path that leads to fullness of life.

Ates and Kuyas, this Gospel invites us to reflect on both who we follow and how we influence others. In a world full of pressure and many competing voices, we are called to listen to what is true and life-giving, and to be sources of care and guidance in our own simple ways. By choosing to support, uplift, and lead one another toward what is good, we begin to reflect the heart of a good shepherd.
In the end, we are left to ask ourselves: Are we becoming good shepherds to those around us, and whose voice are we truly following?

Gospel: Matthew 5:13-16

In a world that can feel dull, divided, and uncertain, Jesus uses the simple images of salt and light to describe a life that quietly influences others for the better. These ordinary elements express an extraordinary mission to shape the world through actions rather than popularity or loud words. Salt works without demanding attention, and light does not argue with darkness because it simply shines. In the same way, genuine faith becomes powerful when it is shown through honesty, kindness, and integrity in everyday life. A teacher who treats each student with fairness and a professional who chooses what is right even when it is difficult both help preserve goodness and restore moral strength in a society that often struggles with compromise.

Light also gives direction and reveals truth through small but brave decisions such as standing up against injustice, offering forgiveness, and showing compassion to those who feel unseen. These images remind us that faith loses its purpose when it exists only in words or appearances. In a time when online image can seem more important than real character, true influence comes from a life where beliefs and actions are consistent. Living with strong values may not always be comfortable, yet authenticity invites trust and inspires others. Being salt and light is not about seeking recognition but about serving others and pointing toward what is good and meaningful. When ordinary people live with quiet faithfulness, they bring hope, clarity, and purpose to the world around them.
As we reflect on this calling, we are invited to ask ourselves what simple action we can do today to become a light to someone else.

Gospel: Matthew 4:12-23

In today's Gospel, we see Jesus starting his mission by reaching out to people who felt lost or lived in "darkness." He shows us that God's light is for everyone, no matter where they are from. When Jesus calls the first four fishermen, what stands out most is how quickly they say "yes." They didn't make excuses or wait for a better time; they left their nets and followed him immediately.

This reminds us that following God does not always require expert skills, but it does require a willing heart. Today, we can ask ourselves what "nets" or distractions are holding us back from being better people and how we can say "yes" to helping others more quickly.

The gospel of 3:13-17 talks about Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist. It also reminds us how important baptism to us Catholics.

Jesus, the perfect one, humbled himself to be baptized by John. He showed us that obedience and surrender are keys to our spiritual journey. As we follow your example, may we also surrender our lives and be obedient to your will. Amen.
