Gospel: Matthew 5:13-16
Reflector: Ate Shirley Ann M. Tesorio

In a world that can feel dull, divided, and uncertain, Jesus uses the simple images of salt and light to describe a life that quietly influences others for the better. These ordinary elements express an extraordinary mission to shape the world through actions rather than popularity or loud words. Salt works without demanding attention, and light does not argue with darkness because it simply shines. In the same way, genuine faith becomes powerful when it is shown through honesty, kindness, and integrity in everyday life. A teacher who treats each student with fairness and a professional who chooses what is right even when it is difficult both help preserve goodness and restore moral strength in a society that often struggles with compromise.

Light also gives direction and reveals truth through small but brave decisions such as standing up against injustice, offering forgiveness, and showing compassion to those who feel unseen. These images remind us that faith loses its purpose when it exists only in words or appearances. In a time when online image can seem more important than real character, true influence comes from a life where beliefs and actions are consistent. Living with strong values may not always be comfortable, yet authenticity invites trust and inspires others. Being salt and light is not about seeking recognition but about serving others and pointing toward what is good and meaningful. When ordinary people live with quiet faithfulness, they bring hope, clarity, and purpose to the world around them.
As we reflect on this calling, we are invited to ask ourselves what simple action we can do today to become a light to someone else.

Gospel: Matthew 4:12-23
Reflector: Ate Kiertine Haze Peรฑa

In today's Gospel, we see Jesus starting his mission by reaching out to people who felt lost or lived in "darkness." He shows us that God's light is for everyone, no matter where they are from. When Jesus calls the first four fishermen, what stands out most is how quickly they say "yes." They didn't make excuses or wait for a better time; they left their nets and followed him immediately.

This reminds us that following God does not always require expert skills, but it does require a willing heart. Today, we can ask ourselves what "nets" or distractions are holding us back from being better people and how we can say "yes" to helping others more quickly.

The gospel of 3:13-17 talks about Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist. It also reminds us how important baptism to us Catholics.

Jesus, the perfect one, humbled himself to be baptized by John. He showed us that obedience and surrender are keys to our spiritual journey. As we follow your example, may we also surrender our lives and be obedient to your will. Amen.

January 04, 2026 | SOLEMNITY OF THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

Gospel: Matthew 2: 1-12

In today's gospel, the journey of the Magi reminds us that God reveals Himself to those who sincerely seek Him. Led by the star, they left their comfort and faced challenges, yet their hearts remained fixed on finding Christ. However, when King Herod heard about Jesus, he responded with fear, seeing Him as a threat, showing us how the revelation of God can lead either to faith or to resistance.

The star did not remove obstacles, it simply pointed the way. Likewise, God does not promise them a life without struggles, but He offers His guidance. When the Magi found Jesus, they were filled with joy and offered their gifts as signs of surrender, humility, and love. They returned home by a different route and did not go back the way they came. This means that once you truly encounter Jesus, you should no longer back to your old ways or go back to your past sinful actions.

My dear Ates and Kuyas, in today's gospel invites us to reflect: What star is God using to guide us today? Are we willing to rise, follow, and trust, even when the path is unclear? Like the Magi, may we learn to seek Jesus sincerely, recognize Him humbly, and offer Him not just gifts, but our very lives.

December 28, 2025 | FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY, AND JOSEPH

Gospel: Matthew 2:13-15, 19-23
Reflector: Ate Keisha Husain

Todayโ€™s Gospel invites us to reflect on quiet obedience, trust in God, and the courage to protect life even in uncertainty.

When Godโ€™s message comes through the angel in a dream, Joseph does not delay, question, or bargain. Josephโ€™s trust teaches us that faith means listening to God and acting, even when the path is unclear. The Holy Family becomes refugees, reminding us that God is present and guiding them even in hardship and displacement. Showing us to trust Godโ€™s guidance in our own lives, believing that He is always working for our good, even through difficult and unexpected journeys.

This Gospel challenges us to ask ourselves: Do we listen to God even when His call disrupts our comfort? Are we willing to move, change, and trust when the path is unclear? Like Joseph, may we learn to respond with humble obedience, trusting that God is always guiding us toward life, hope, and fulfillment even through uncertainty.

December 21, 2025 | 4TH SUNDAY IN ADVENT

Gospel: Matthew 1:18-24
Reflector: Ate Rhyl Rulona

On this 4th Sunday of Advent, let's unwrap the Gifts of Love, Trust, and Obedience.

The Gift of Love: This is the "why" of the season. It is Godโ€™s radical decision to enter our human mess, transforming from a distant creator to Emmanuel, "God with us." It invites us to clear the clutter of our hearts to make room for His presence.

The Gift of Trust: This is the bridge between a promise and its fulfillment. Just as Mary trusted the angel and Joseph trusted his dream, we are called to lean into the unknown, believing that the One who called us is faithful even when the path is unclear.

The Gift of Obedience: Obedience is saying "yes" to God's plan, even when it is hard. Just like Joseph obeyed by protecting Mary and Jesus. Like him, we can choose obedience , trusting God's way is the best.

By unwraping these gifts, we don't just prepare for a holiday; we prepare our souls to become a dwelling place for the Light of the World.
