An Environmental Protection Project:
“CLEAN SEAS FOR BLUE ECONOMY”
International Coastal Clean Up Day 2024

In a remarkable display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, the Rotary Club of Calapan, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), embarked on a transformative coastal cleanup project in Barangay Salong & Calero, Calapan City. This initiative was not just an event, but a powerful movement aimed at restoring the natural beauty of our beloved shores and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

Volunteers from all walks of life gathered at the shoreline of Barangays Salong & Calero. Armed with picker, trash bags, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference, they set out to cleanse the coast of litter and debris. The air was filled with a sense of purpose as local organizations worked side by side, each piece of trash collected symbolizing a step towards a cleaner, healthier environment.

The cleanup was more than just a physical effort; it was a testament to the power of community. As the sun climbed higher, the once litter-strewn beach began to transform. The sight of clear sands and sparkling waters was a reward in itself, a visual reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause.

RC Calapan’s mission extended beyond a single event. Determined to ensure lasting impact, they journeyed to Barangay Lazareto, carrying with them a gift that would continue to benefit the community long after the day was done.

Five sturdy trash bins were donated to the shores of Barangay Lazareto. These bins, strategically placed along the coastline, are more than just receptacles for waste; they are symbols of a commitment to sustainable practices and a cleaner future. The bins will serve as a constant reminder to residents and visitors alike of the importance of proper waste disposal and the role each person plays in protecting our environment.

The efforts of the Rotary Club of Calapan and DENR have left an indelible mark on the communities of Barangay Calero and Barangay Lazareto. The coastal cleanup and the donation of trash bins are not just isolated acts of kindness; they are part of a larger vision for a sustainable and environmentally conscious society.

As the waves lap gently against the now pristine shores, the legacy of this project lives on. It is a call to action for all of us to take responsibility for our surroundings, to cherish and protect the natural beauty that we are privileged to enjoy. In a heartwarming display of bayanihan spirit, Rotary Club of Calapan, in partnership with the Department of Education, MIMAROPA Region Schools Division of Calapan City, rallied together on July 22, 2024 at the Personas Covered Court in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, to uplift the newly constructed Personas Highschool. With unwavering dedication, we generously contributed vital construction materials, 2 units of Personal Computers and essential school supplies, fortifying the bedrock of education for generations to come. The radiant smiles on the faces of both students and teachers bear witness to the profound impact of our collective efforts! 💙🏫✨

𝐀 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞🩸🩸🩸 ✨

Rotary Club of Calapan, in partnership with Tamaraw Masonic Lodge No. 65 and the Philippine National Red Cross, recently conducted a life-saving event that pulses with urgency and hope. This Blood Letting Activity aimed at collecting safe blood to save lives and promote voluntary blood donation within the community. The activity took place on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Bulwagan Panlalawigan, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The event started at 7 AM, and saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, volunteers, and healthcare professionals. Each donor’s journey was a testament to courage, selflessness, and compassion, as they rolled up their sleeves and offered their blood to save lives. The medical team, heroes in their own right, worked tirelessly, ensuring every donation was safe and efficient. As the day progressed, the collection bags filled, each one a symbol of hope and resilience. The RC Calapan members and the other organizers, ever vigilant, ensured that every donor felt appreciated, offering refreshments, heartfelt gratitude and the occasional friendly banters.

The activity culminated in a moment of reflection, as the organizers gathered to acknowledge the collective effort and the lives that will be touched by this noble act. The Rotary Club of Calapan extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, volunteers, and partner organizations who made this event possible.

This Blood-Letting Project is not just an event; it’s a tapestry of humanity at its best, woven with threads of generosity, community spirit, and unwavering dedication to making a difference. The Rotary Club of Calapan, under the inspiring leadership of President Hansel “Hans” De Guzman, proudly launched the Magical Term with a heartfelt KICK OFF Project at the Aruga Kapatid Foundation, Home for the Aged, on Sunday, July 7, 2024. This meaningful activity, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Calapan, aimed to extend unwavering SUPPORT, HELP, and LOVE to the cherished Lolos and Lolas of the institution.

This initiative truly embodies the spirit of commitment to community service, kindness, and compassion.

President Hans was deeply humbled and moved by the overwhelming support and active participation of the RC Calapan Officers and Members, who came together to make this event a resounding success.

Such dedication and unity highlight the true essence of Rotary’s mission to serve and uplift communities. Here’s to many more impactful projects in the Magical Term ahead! 🌟

As the new Rotary Year begins today, we congratulate our outgoing Imaginative President Leodegario “Leody” Gutierrez.

IP Leody’s strong leadership sowed significant service projects. It was also full of wonderful and fun-filled activities proving him as an outstanding president of the year which coincided with Rotary Club of Calapan’s 70th Anniversary. RC Calapan is truly honored and grateful for his “Service Above Self”.

We welcome our Incoming Club President Percival “Chie” Martinez. President Chie has been a member of our Club since 2005. He is always willing to lend a hand in any Community Service Projects hosted by RC Calapan. Our Club is fortunate to have him as our President for the 2023 – 2024 Hope Creating Rotary Year and we look forward to the coming months with him at the helm.
