📚 Aklatan sa Pamayanang Mangyan
Aklatan sa Pamayanang Mangyan is a community-based library established to provide Indigenous children and community members with access to books, learning materials, and a safe space for reading, learning, and developing their love for education.

On September 5, 2026 (Saturday), the Aklatan was formally blessed, led by Fr. Ross P. Heruela, SVD, the DWCC CES Director, together with the Dean of the School of Architecture and Fine Arts (SAFA), Ar. Eldie Roldan, PhD and its faculty. This is also participated by the community members of the HanuBU Village with Bayi Jeanna Paladan, the community project coordinator and Amang Yabod Ig-on, the IP leader of the community.

The activity was also made possible through the participation and support of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), who contributed to the development of this meaningful community initiative.

This is truly a meaningful milestone in bringing knowledge, learning, and hope closer to the Mangyan.

“DWCC CES: Beyond Campus, Beyond Mindoro”

On August 23, 2026, Divine Word College of Calapan, Inc. (DWCC), through its Community Extension Services (CES) and the Student Affairs Office (SAO)—led by SAO Director Engr. Jezer Ilao alongside Student Electoral Board volunteers—successfully held the Leadership Training Camp: Preparatory Session 1.
Themed "DWCC CES: Beyond Campus, Beyond Mindoro," the capacity-building seminar prepared student leaders for SY 2026–2027 by orienting them on CES alignment frameworks, policies, and operational procedures. Nearly 180 student leaders participated in the event.
CES Director Fr. Ross P. Heruela, SVD, delivered a talk on integrating community service with the SVD Mission, Catholic Social Teaching, Cultural Sensitivity, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
CES Social Worker Krizia Kate R. Medina outlined the practical procedures, guidelines, and steps required for effective project implementation.
CES Coordinator Ms. Ma. Aimee Bermudez facilitated the entire event and an interactive Open Forum/Q&A session, addressing student queries in detail.
Through this collaborative initiative, DWCC, CES, and SAO reaffirm their commitment to empowering student leaders into socially responsible, culturally sensitive, and active partners in sustainable community development.

The Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) Community Extension Services (CES) Office conducted a dual capacity-building seminar and project orientation on August 8, 2026, targeting National Service Training Program (NSTP) coordinators to strengthen local community development initiatives.
The first session featured a capacity-building seminar on basic community organizing led by CES Social Worker Krizia Kate Medina. Following the said session, CES Coordinator Ma. Aimee Bermudez presented an orientation on the project titled "Head, Heart & Hands: Molding Future Leaders for Sustainable & Resilient Community."
The event was attended by NSTP coordinators and led by NSTP Director Edwin Escosora.
The "Head, Heart & Hands" (3H) initiative is a collaborative partnership between the DWCC NSTP Department and Barangays Pachoca and Tibag under the close supervision of CES Office. The project engages 100 elementary school beneficiaries and their families in holistic community-building efforts anchored on the program "Building Tomorrow Today: Rebuilding Communities through Education, Livelihood, Environmental Action, and Social Development", the multi-sectoral project aims to foster long-term resilience, leadership, and socioeconomic growth within the partner barangays.

Ang Community Extension Services (CES) ay nagsagawa ng isang "Capacity-Building Training on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Self-Help Group (SHeG)" ngayong araw: Hulyo 22, 2026 (Miyerkules), mula ika-9 ng umaga hanggang ika-12:00 ng tanghali sa President’s Conference Room, DWCC Main Campus. [Ang Resource Speaker ay si Ginang Shiela R. Ibo ng Roman Catholic Diocese of Calapan].

Layunin ng pagsasanay na ito na magtatag ng isang espesyal na komite na bubuo ng mga epektibong estratehiya para sa pag-oorganisa, pagpapalakas, at pagpapanatili ng mga Self-Help Group (SHeG) sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga kaparehang pamayanan ng CES. Nilalayon din nitong mapahusay ang kaalaman at kasanayan ng mga kalahok sa pagpapatupad ng mga proyektong pangkabuhayan ng NSTP na nakabatay sa komunidad sa ating mga napiling pamayanan (adopted communities).

The DWCC community warmly welcomed professionals: Faculty and Non-teaching personnel and one of our program partners from Saint Jude Catholic School in San Miguel, Manila. The opening prayer was led by Mr. Rommel Villas, followed by some inputs and reminders from Barangay Councilor Joel Carena. Our guests then freely shared their reflections after planting the mangrove [propagules]. The program concluded with a closing prayer, the SVD Motto, and a tribute to our Blessed Mother Mary. Let us continue to support our nature and environment, our common home!

As our Mangyan children reach another milestone with the opening of School Year 2026–2027, DWCC, through the generous support and donation drive of the Campus Ministry Office (CMO) and the Center for Spirituality and Mission (CSaM), continues to ensure that our beloved “budangs” begin their first day of school with excitement, confidence, and hope.
Through the program component “Aklatan sa Pamayanang Mangyan: Shaping Minds and Hearts of Marginalized Mangyan Children for Integral Development,” we provide not only a safe, accessible, and well-lit study hub, but also a structured system of academic assistance and guidance throughout the year.
This initiative reached the Mangyan communities of Pamayanan ng Bulod, Brgy. Mabuhay 1, Socorro; Pamayanan ng Paraiso, Brgy. Conception, Victoria; and Pamayanan ng Togo, Brgy. Malo, Bansud.
May these simple blessings inspire our children to pursue their dreams, improve their academic performance, and continue striving toward a brighter and better future. Together, let us continue shaping minds and hearts through compassion, education, and service. 📚✨
