🐾 From Shy to Zoomies: Rosa & Gizmo’s Second Chance ❤️

We are always happy to receive updates from the families who have opened their homes and hearts to our SECASPI dogs and cats. Today, we received the sweetest video of Rosa and Gizmo—and it truly made our day! 🥹❤️

Rosa was once a very shy dog. But look at her now! 🥰 She is happily doing zoomies with her human, running around with the kind of joy and confidence every dog deserves. 🐕💨❤️

Gizmo, who was adopted together with Rosa, was actually one of our most amiable dogs at SECASPI. But after adoption, adjusting to his new environment took some time. There were moments when he would even give a little “grrr” as he tried to cope with the changes.

But look at him NOW! 🥹❤️
He is playing, running, doing zoomies, and enjoying life with his favorite human. 🐕💨

This is exactly why we do what we do.

Because behind every rescued dog or cat is a story waiting to have a happier ending.

From being neglected and uncertain of their future… to being loved, safe, spoiled, and finally home. 🏡❤️

Thank you so much to the family of Lissa Amodia de Mesa for giving Rosa and Gizmo the patience, understanding, and love they needed to adjust and flourish.

Every adoption reminds us that a second chance can change everything. ❤️

And this is the kind of update that keeps us going.

Tomorrow, 4 of our dedicated caretakers’ salaries AND our shelter rent are BOTH due.

Behind every bowl of food, every cleaned kennel, every medicine given, and every animal comforted are people who show up every single day to care for our 70 dogs and 50 cats.

Our caretakers work tirelessly for the animals, and they deserve to receive their salaries on time. At the same time, our shelter rent must be paid so we can continue keeping 120 rescued animals safe.

What an incredible night for SECASPI! Despite the heavy downpour of rain, the love and support for our rescued Aspins and Puspins continued to pour in. 🐶🐱🌧️❤️

Our sincere thanks to the organizer, Anina U. Navarro, for sharing the proceeds of the ticket sales with SECASPI, amounting to ₱4,462.59. This will go a long way toward helping us provide food and care for the 100 rescued animals in our shelter.

To all the artists who shared their music and talent, thank you for using your craft to help make a difference. 🎶❤️ Your performances brought joy to everyone—and hope to our animals.

A huge thank you as well to our dedicated SECASPI volunteers, Admin Rhola Mae Totesora and Ate Cory, who stood with us and helped man our merchandise booth despite the challenging weather. 🐾🙏

🐾❤️ FROM A CRAMPED CAGE TO A FOREVER HOME ❤️🐾

CHASE HAS FINALLY BEEN CHOSEN.

Some adoption stories are happy.

But some feel like something the universe quietly planned all along.

Today, we are incredibly happy to announce that Chase has been ADOPTED by the Romero family. 🥹❤️

And this isn't just any family.

The Romero family is a 2-time SECASPI adopter—and Chase will now become the 3rd dog they have welcomed from our shelter.

Their first SECASPI dogs were Buddy and Johnson.

They loved them. They cared for them. They became family.

And years ago, both Buddy and Johnson crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

The house became quieter.

Their hearts needed time to grieve.

And perhaps, for a while, they weren't ready to love another dog—not because they had stopped loving dogs, but because losing Buddy and Johnson had left a space in their hearts that was difficult to fill.

Then came Chase.

A dog who had spent most of his adult life in a cramped cage.

A dog who was sometimes fed scraps.

A dog who was often forgotten.

Yet somehow, after everything humans had failed to give him, Chase still chose to trust people.

He wagged his tail.

He remained happy.

He followed commands.

He welcomed people.

He waited.

We posted Chase for adoption, hoping someone would finally see the wonderful dog behind all those years of neglect.

And many people applied.

We conducted interviews.

But one after another, some changed their minds.

Some never proceeded.

Some never even came to meet him.

And Chase remained waiting.

Waiting for someone to say:

"Yes. He's ours."

Then, two days ago, we received a message from the Romero family.

They told us that their hearts had finally healed.

They were ready to open their home again.

Ready to love another dog.

Ready to welcome another SECASPI rescue into their family.

And when they were asked which dog they wanted...

They chose Chase. ❤️

We couldn't help but wonder if Buddy and Johnson somehow had a little something to do with it.

Maybe the two dogs who had crossed the Rainbow Bridge had left behind a family with so much love still to give.

And maybe Chase was simply the dog who was meant to receive it.

After all the waiting...

After all the applications...

After all the people who changed their minds...

Chase was finally chosen.

Not because he was perfect.

Not because he was a guard dog.

Not because of what he could do for a family.

But simply because he deserved to be loved.

And now, Chase will no longer sleep wondering when someone will come.

He will no longer spend his days behind bars.

He will no longer be forgotten.

He has a family.

He has a home.

He has people who chose him.

And most importantly...

He belongs. 🥹❤️

To the Romero family, thank you for coming back to SECASPI.

Thank you for opening your hearts again after the pain of losing Buddy and Johnson.

Thank you for giving another rescue dog a chance.

And thank you for choosing Chase.

We may have rescued Chase from a cage...

but you are the ones who truly rescued him from a lifetime of never knowing what it means to belong.

Run free, Chase.

Love deeply.

Be spoiled.

Be happy.

IT IS 50 LIVES MADE CLEANER, HEALTHIER, MORE COMFORTABLE — AND MORE DIGNIFIED. 🐾

Today, SECASPI wants to give our deepest and most sincere gratitude to DUNSK KUHNER for donating an incredible truckload of cat litter to our shelter. 🙏❤️

For many people, cat litter may seem like a simple household item.

But for our 50 rescued cats, it is something they need every single day.

Every scoop means a cleaner space.
Every clean litter box means better hygiene.
Every bag means one less essential expense for our struggling shelter.

And this is why this donation touches us so deeply.

Cat litter is one of the needs that is often forgotten when people donate to shelters.

Food understandably comes first — and at SECASPI, we have to prioritize our limited resources for dog food and cat food. We normally don't have the budget to purchase enough cat litter for our 50 cats.

🐾💛 A BIRTHDAY BLESSING THAT REACHED SECASPI, DESPITE THE RAIN 💛🐾

Some acts of kindness become even more meaningful because of the effort behind them.

Our genuine thanks to Lele Apalit and the Apalit Family for choosing to celebrate a birthday by paying their blessings forward to the rescued animals of SECASPI. 🙏🐶🐱

What touched us most was that despite the Habagat, the heavy rains, and the difficult weather, they still made their way to SECASPI. 🌧️💛

They could have simply sent their birthday blessings from home, but they chose to show up. They chose to come, to see the animals, and to personally share what they could.

Together with Raphael Apalit and Milko Apalit, they brought much-needed donations of:

🐶 Dog food
🐱 Cat litter
🧹 Cleaning materials

For a shelter caring for so many rescued animals, these are not just supplies. They mean full bowls, clean spaces, and better days for animals who have already been through so much.

And perhaps that is what makes this birthday celebration so beautiful—a personal blessing was turned into a blessing for those who have no voice and no way of saying thank you. ❤️
