MIIS Rover Circle 008 Joins Parade to Kick Off Kanlungan Festival 2026

​SITIO MCDC, KAPAYAPAAN VILLAGE — Demonstrating their commitment to community involvement and civic service, the Rover Scouts of. MIIS Rover Circle 008 actively participated in the opening activities of the highly anticipated Kanlungan Festival 2026.

​The festivities commenced with a vibrant grand parade starting from Sitio Carmel Housing. Traversing the main road of Kapayapaan Village, the parade drew local residents, community groups, and youth leaders before concluding at the Sangguniang Barangay Covered Court in Sitio MCDC.

​The annual celebration serves as a tribute to the late Senator Jose Yulo Sr., honoring his enduring legacy, visionary leadership, and contributions to the local community. By marching alongside local officials and civic groups, MIIS Rover Circle 008 highlighted the scout value of service while honoring one of the region's prominent historical figures.

​The Kanlungan Festival 2026 continues throughout the week with various cultural, sports, and community-centered events aimed at bringing together residents across the barangay.

MIIS Circle 008 Demonstrates Spirit of Civic Service at 132nd Yulo Day Commemoration

Canlubang, ​CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Members of MIIS Circle 008 actively took part in the community service initiatives, civic assistance, and volunteer operations during the 132nd Birth Anniversary of House Speaker and Chief Justice José Yulo, Sr. on September 24, 2026.

​Pursuant to Republic Act No. 7851, September 24 is observed as a special non-working holiday in Calamba to honor the late statesman and philanthropist who served across all three branches of the Philippine government. This year's milestone celebration drew local government officials, community organizations, students, and residents.
​Key Community Contributions
​Throughout the event, volunteers from MIIS Circle 008 provided vital operational and community support across key commemoration sites:
​Event Logistics & Crowd Assistance: Circle members assisted local organizers in managing crowd flow, directing vehicular traffic, and guiding attendees during the official wreath-laying ceremonies and commemorative programs.

​Youth Engagement & Civic Awareness: Members conducted informal information drives detailing the legacy of Don José Yulo, highlighting his legal contributions, commitment to public service, and local development endeavors in Canlubang.

MIIS Circle 008 scouts attend 31st National Youth Commission's Youth Day Celebration

MANILA, Philippines — The National Youth Commission (NYC) marked its 31st commemoration alongside the joint celebration of International Youth Day and National Youth Day on Friday, August 28, 2026, bringing together youth leaders, government officials, and sectoral representatives at Luneta Park and the Rizal Park Hotel.

The morning activities commenced at 7:00 AM at the Rizal Monument in Luneta Park. NYC Chairperson and CEO Undersecretary Joseph Francisco Ortega led the official flag-raising ceremony at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium. By 8:00 AM, a solemn flower offering ceremony was held at the Rizal Monument.

Among the delegation present was the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP). The Calamba City Council—led by Council Scout Executive OIC Scout Leader Paul Ryan de Leon and Scout Leader Gelacio Arcita—actively participated in the ceremonies alongside select Rover Scouts from MIIS Circle 008, including RS Kristoffer Romano, RS Rayvin James Bawit, RS Reinan Mahilum, RS Angelo Riveral, and RS Nhorvince Atienza, all clad in their official Type A Scout Uniform.

Following the outdoor ceremonies, delegates gathered at the nearby Manila Hotel (formerly Regal Palace) at 9:00 AM before transitioning to the main NYC program at 10:30 AM at the Rizal Park Hotel.

The official program featured the oath-taking of the newly appointed Assistant Secretary Commissioner at 10:50 AM, followed by a keynote address at 10:55 AM delivered by Cabinet Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr., who attended as the official representative of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Addressing the gathered youth representatives from various sectors, Sec. Abalos issued a strong call for unified government action in youth development. He stressed that government agencies must break down silos and avoid fragmented initiatives ("kanya-kanyang programa") when formulating policies for young Filipinos. Furthermore, Sec. Abalos emphasized that young people should not merely be beneficiaries of policy, but active co-designers in shaping programs that directly impact their future.

MIIS Circle 008 called to serve in Rover Orientation Vigil and Investiture Ceremony 2026

Rover Scouting in Calauan, Laguna received a powerful boost as rover aspirants gathered at the Kanluran Convention Center from August 27 to 28, 2026, for the Rover Orientation, Vigil, and Investiture Ceremony.

​The two-day activity officially launched the week-long celebration of Youth Week, aiming to empower young leaders and ground them in the core virtues of the Scout Oath and Law. Assisting the candidates throughout the spiritual vigil and solemn ceremonies were members of MIIS Circle 008 from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Calamba City Council, under the leadership of Council Scout Executive and Scout Leader Paul Ryan de Leon, CMT.

​A deeply emotional highlight of the opening program was a special tribute dedicated to the late Scout Alexis Miguel "Miggy" Quiozon, a beloved local scout whose legacy continues to touch the community. Miggy’s mother delivered a heartfelt message to the young audience, sharing intimate stories of how Scouting positively shaped her son’s life, character, and service to others during his lifetime. Her moving words left a lasting impression on the aspirants as they prepared to commit themselves to the Rover Scout ideals.

​Throughout the overnight vigil and investiture, aspirants reflected on their duty to God, country, and fellowmen, culminating in their formal admission into the Rover Scouting fraternity. The newly invested Rovers now step into Youth Week equipped to lead community service initiatives and embody the Rover motto: "Together we Serve."
