๐ŸŒฑ Hilongos Leyte, Philippines Mangrove Reforestation Project
FTI, LGF, and SEZ Germany | Seedling Propagation

Members of the organization of persons with disabilities in Hilongos, known as AGAK (Assosasyon ng may Ginintuang Puso at Isipan Kahit may Kapansanan), continue to play an active role in mangrove seedling propagation.

As it is the fruiting season of mayapi, a deep-rooted mangrove species, the members dedicated their time to collecting seeds and carefully preparing them for propagation. Bagging and potting activities were done with great care to ensure the healthy growth of seedlings in the nursery.

From time to time, additional mangrove species from Bontoc are also brought in to be planted and included in the nursery collection. Through these combined efforts, a significant number of propagules and seedlings have been produced in preparation for the upcoming mangrove planting activities in the proposed planting areas.

This continuous propagation work helps ensure that enough healthy seedlings are available for future mangrove restoration efforts, while also highlighting the important role of persons with disabilities in environmental conservation and climate action. ๐ŸŒฟโ™ฟ
