Good Morning K-Scouts! It's Rainy Season now here in the Philippines! which means... Flash Floods are to be expected!
When times like this arrive, we should learn Safety Precautions in order to keep ourselves Safe From Harm! It's better to be aware than to be oblivious when times like this are arriving.
โ Bring Rain Protection: It's is always important to bring an Umbrella or a Raincoat to keep ourselves and our stuff dry from rain! Bringing this stuff is recommended for Students. Wear Boots or Waterproof Bags IF POSSIBLE inorder to keep items inside of bags or keeping our shoes dry.
โ Avoid Flooded Area's: When one area is FLOODED it is not Safe to Play or Walk in these areas, as they can contain hidden potholes, Open Manholes or Sharp Objects that could potentially harm you and lead you to Leptospirosis. It is better to take other routes in which aren't affected by the flood.
โ Stay Safe during Thunderstorms: When the rain is pouring harshly and thunder can be heard, it is best to stay indoors and away from Trees, Poles or Open Fields. As you might end up being a Victim of being struck by lighting. If possible or necessary, Unplug all Electronics for safety.
โ Be careful on the Road: If you are crossing the road, walking on the road, walking on the sidewalk, driving or cycling. We should learn to be Aware of our Surroundings, Cars or Pedestrians tend to be not aware when it is raining. This leads to accidents, like slipping, falling, or worse Crashing. It is best for Pedestrians to look both ways and be aware, Drivers to look out for Slippery Roads and Pedestrians crossing and for cyclists to slow down.
โ Prepare an Emergency Kit: When time comes and floods rise, it is best to prepare an emergency kit just in case of someone being harmed. Please keep in mind and pack - Medicine, Drinking Water, First Aid Kit, Powerbank, Flashlight & Batteries, Snacks and a Cellphone.
โ Stay Updated: It is best to stay updated on Weather Forecasts as this can help you and your families to stay alert and prepared whenever a Storm is entering the Philippines.
Keep yourself and others safe through guiding them into safety as well. It is also best to help other citizens as we should represent the traits of being Trustworthy, Helpful, Courteous, Kind and Brave as a Senior Scout.
