Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a beloved title of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring her as the Mother of Jesus and the spiritual mother and sister of the Carmelite Family. Rooted in the tradition of the first Carmelites who lived on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land, this devotion recognizes Mary as a model of prayer, contemplation, humility, and complete surrender to God. As Patroness of the Carmelite Order, she continues to inspire Carmelites to seek a deeper union with Christ through a life of prayer and service, following her example of faithfully keeping God’s word in her heart. Throughout the world, millions of faithful honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel through the wearing of the Brown Scapular, Marian prayers, processions, and celebrations of her feast day every July 16. Her presence remains a source of hope, protection, and guidance, reminding all believers that Mary always leads us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Ina ng CMY, pray for us!

The San Pedro Calungsod Vicariate Youth, together with fellow young people from the different parishes of the Archdiocese, joyfully attended the Youth Mass in honor of the Madre Peregrina de Guadalupe at St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral on July 10, 2026. United in prayer and devotion, the faithful gathered to welcome the pilgrimage of Our Lady of Guadalupe, entrusting their lives, dreams, and ministries to her loving maternal care.

As one youth community, we were reminded of her comforting words: β€œAm I not here, who am your Mother?” May the Blessed Virgin Mary continue to guide and strengthen us as we grow in faith, hope, and love, becoming joyful witnesses of Christ and faithful servants of the Church.

The Mother’s Journey: From Mexico to the Philippines

As we continue our preparations for The Mother’s Journey: From Mexico to the Philippines, we invite the faithful to take note of the Schedule of Activities for the visit of the Pilgrim Images of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Juan Diego to the Saint Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral on July 9–11, 2026.

May this sacred pilgrimage be an occasion for us to deepen our love for the Blessed Virgin Mary and renew our faith in her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. We encourage everyone to prayerfully participate in these celebrations and welcome our Mother with filial devotion and grateful hearts.

We kindly remind the faithful that acts of veneration of the sacred images during the celebration of Holy Mass are strongly discouraged, in order to preserve the solemnity, integrity, and proper conduct of the Sacred Liturgy.

On the second day of the pilgrimage, July 10, 2026, the Tilma Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be brought in a motorcade en route to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, where it will be present for the scheduled devotional activities and veneration. Please be informed that the regular Mass schedule at the Cathedral will continue as usual.

Meanwhile, the statue of the Blessed Mother and the image of Saint Juan Diego will remain at the Cathedral, where the lay faithful may continue to visit, offer prayers, and venerate these sacred images throughout the day.
