To all U-25 players,
We hope you're all excited and preparing well for the upcoming game this Sunday. As part of the organizing committee, we would like to inform you about the referee fees and provide some clarity on why certain decisions have been made regarding the officiating.
The referee fee is set at ₱250 per game. Since each game will be officiated by a certified BAP (Basketball Association of the Philippines) referee, the total referee expense per game will be ₱250 x 2 = ₱500, to be shared equally by both teams. This means each team will need to contribute ₱125 per game for the referee expenses.
We understand that ₱125 can be a significant amount, especially considering that teams are also required to pay half of the registration fee on the first game day. Please know that the committee has done everything we can to try and reduce this cost, including negotiating with referees to lower their fees. However, after several discussions, the ₱250 rate is already fixed and non-negotiable.
We also want to explain why we are hiring BAP-certified referees. The main reason is to ensure the safety of all players and maintain fairness and professionalism throughout the tournament. Certified referees are trained to make unbiased and consistent calls, which helps prevent misunderstandings and potential conflicts between teams. Having professional referees will also improve the overall experience of the game for everyone involved.
We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Please make sure to come prepared for the game this Sunday, and don’t forget to bring your team’s share of the referee fee and half of the registration payment.
