πŸ©ΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ World Blood Donor Day 2026: One in Mission, United in Saving Lives πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ©Έ

In celebration of World Blood Donor Day 2026, the Philippine Red Cross Misamis Oriental–Cagayan de Oro Chapter joins the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine Blood Coordinating Council (PBCC), and all blood service partners in reaffirming our shared commitment to the advancement of the National Blood Service Program.

Guided by this year’s theme, β€œOne Drop of Humanity. Give Blood, Save Lives,” we recognize the invaluable collaboration among blood service institutions and stakeholders who continue to work hand in hand to ensure a safe, adequate, and sustainable blood supply for every Filipino in need.

On June 14, 2026 (Sunday), the Philippine Red Cross Misamis Oriental–Cagayan de Oro Chapter joyfully participated in the World Blood Donor Day Fun Run held at Rio de Oro Boulevard, Cagayan de Oro City, organized by the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH-CHD-NM).

The activity not only promoted Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation (VNRBD) but also encouraged individuals to embrace a healthier and more active lifestyle. Through this initiative, participants were reminded that maintaining good health is an important step toward becoming a regular and committed blood donor.

During the event, Dr. Christie Monina M. Nalupta, Director of the National Blood Services of the Philippine Red Cross, graced the celebration and represented Dr. Gwendolyn Pang, Secretary General of the Philippine Red Cross. Dr. Nalupta conveyed the Philippine Red Cross’ message of support and solidarity, emphasizing the organization’s unwavering commitment to strengthening partnerships and advancing the country’s blood service program through voluntary blood donation.

Representing the Chapter were Ma’am Hannah Rabuyo, RMT, Ms. Jerica Perater, RMT, and Ms. Sheloah Emmanuelle SeriΓ±a, RMT, together with dedicated Red Cross volunteers, who joined fellow advocates, blood donors, and blood service partners in solidarity and support of this worthy cause.

The Philippine Red Cross remains steadfast in its mission of serving humanity through blood services and continues to strengthen its collaboration with the Department of Health, PBCC, and all stakeholders in promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring that safe blood is always available for patients in need.

Together, we run for a cause. Together, we give hope. Together, we save lives.

🩸 Celebration of World Blood Donor Day 2026 🩸

The Philippine Red Cross Misamis Oriental–Cagayan de Oro Chapter proudly joins the global community in celebrating World Blood Donor Day 2026 and honoring our modern-day heroesβ€”our voluntary blood donors!

Last June 11, 2026, the Chapter conducted a special program at CITYMALL Bulua, Brgy. Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City, in line with this year’s theme:

β€œOne Drop of Humanity. Give Blood, Save Lives.”

The celebration featured informative sessions on β€œWho is Red Cross?” and a Blood Donation Pep Talk, attended by our volunteers, mall staff, and mall-goers. The activity aimed to raise awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation and the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.

This meaningful event was made possible through the support and collaboration of the different services of the Chapter, namely: Volunteer Services headed by Sir Tito Timbal, Fund Generation headed by Ms. Mikaela Joseph, and the Health and Welfare Services and the Blood Services headed by Dr. Christina Marie Pelaez, DPCOM.

Our regular donors, first-time donors, and future blood donors participated in various activities, including blood donation information drives, mobile blood donation activity, hands-only CPR demonstrations, and other engaging educational activities. These initiatives were conducted as a way of expressing our heartfelt gratitude for their generosity, commitment, and heroic act of saving lives through blood donation. More importantly, the event served as an opportunity to inspire others to become blood donors and be part of a lifesaving cause.

To all blood donors around the world, thank you for your selfless gift of life. Your generosity gives hope, heals the sick, and saves countless lives every day.

❀️ Happy World Blood Donor Day 2026! ❀️

On May 21, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross Misamis Oriental - Cagayan de Oro Chapter took part in the Simultaneous Coastal Clean-up Activity to honor the Month of the Ocean. Spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-X), this initiative aimed to inspire environmental stewardship and protect the coastal and marine ecosystems of Cagayan de Oro City.

With the participation of our chapter-based and enthusiastic youth volunteers, a remarkable amount of trash was collected during the clean-up. The top five items gathered serve as a reminder of the work still needed:

1. Food wrappers (chips, biscuits, noodles, coffee, etc.)
2. Clothing and cloth
3. Various plastic bags
4. Plastic cups and plates
5. Plastic sachets (detergents, shampoos, etc.)

This trash in the ocean presents a serious challenge to our marine ecosystem and underscores the importance of community action in safeguarding our environment. Together, let’s be a source of hope for one another by actively raising awareness and taking action.

As we observe Dengue Awareness Month, the Philippine Red Cross reminds everyone that preventing dengue starts in our homes and communities. A single mosquito bite can change a life, but by working together, we have the power to stop the spread. Let’s practice the B-E-A-T strategy today!

Through the power of our Volunteers, Logistics, and Information Technology, the Philippine Red Cross stands unified to ensure a safer, healthier Philippines. But we cannot do it aloneβ€”we need YOU.

Be proactive. Clean up, stay informed, and protect your loved ones.

🚨 PHILIPPINE RED CROSS ACTIVATES EMERGENCY FUND CAMPAIGN FOR COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE MAGNITUDE 7.8 EARTHQUAKE IN MINDANAO 🚨

A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck west of General Santos City on June 8, triggering tsunami warnings, evacuations, and disruptions across several parts of Mindanao.

Under the directives of the PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon, the PRC Chapters have deployed personnel to conduct rapid assessments and provide immediate assistance to affected communities within the minutes of the earthquake. The RC143 volunteers have been mobilized, while ambulances have been dispatched in North Cotabato, South Cotabato, and Gingoog City to respond to emergency medical needs and monitor affected areas. PRC personnel also provided medical assistance to students who experienced hyperventilation following the strong ground shaking.

Health and Welfare Services teams are currently assessing hospitals and healthcare facilities, while chapter responders continue monitoring communities that may be affected by aftershocks, displacement, and possible tsunami impacts. To ensure readiness for further developments, PRC has placed emergency response assets on standby across Regions XI and XII, including six ambulances, three food trucks, four water tankers, two Volunteer Emergency Response Vehicles (VERVs), a rescue boat, a Humvee, and cargo vehicles ready for deployment.

"Our teams are already on the ground conducting assessments, providing emergency medical assistance, and coordinating with local authorities in affected areas. We are calling on the public and our partners to support the Philippine Red Cross Emergency Appeal so we can immediately provide relief, safe water, healthcare, and other critical assistance to communities that may be affected in the coming days," said PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang.

PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon emphasized the importance of swift humanitarian action, "When disasters strike, the speed of humanitarian response can make a significant difference for affected families. We appeal to the public, our donors, and partners to help us sustain these efforts and prepare for the needs that may arise in the coming days."

As assessments continue, the Philippine Red Cross is preparing to expand emergency medical services, relief distributions, safe water provision, psychosocial support, shelter assistance, and recovery interventions for affected communities.

The Philippine Red Cross remains on full alert and stands ready to scale up its response in coordination with local government units, national agencies, and humanitarian partners.

To support the emergency fund campaign, donations may be made through the following channels:
