WHEN NAV ALUMNI PRAY FOR A CITY

I was restless confined all day within the four walls of the chemical laboratory... I knew deep in my heart that God had a purpose in leading me to this city, JULIET OCLARIT recalls of her early days in Cagayan de Oro City in 1980. Feeling very alo

ne, Juliet began to ask GOD to carry out HIS plans for sending her to the "City of Golden Friendship". She prayed and prayed and waited. "One by one, four friends from Cebu City, all Navigator-trained in college as I was, came to work in CDO." Juliet took this as God's anwer to her prayer. ELVIE PAJARO, ELMA RUIZ OCLARIT(her husband: the late Emilio Oclarit; children: Eunice & Emil Dwight), EDITH CASIMERO LLAMERA(children: Rachel Jee & Ian), & MINDA DUMALUAN-MACALIBOG joinedJuliet's prayer circle. The five women met for Bible Study and Prayer, encouraging one another in their walk with God. "I felt God leading me to give more time to the ministry. But my hands were full ay work", Juliet recalls. Her women friends prayed. When Juliet quit her job, a teaching position was opened up for her at the Xavier University. It was clear answer from the Lord. In May 1982, two years after this group of Navigator alumni began meeting to pray, they spent a whole day in prayer, asking God to multiply their lives of others in Cagayan de Oro City. It was not along before they saw family members come to Christ and people in their respective boarding houses join Bible Study groups. The fledgling group became an active fellowship of believers devoted to the Bible Study and Prayer. "As men joined our fellowship, we felt the need to pray for male leadership over us." Unknow to them, God was already speaking to Edd Tadulan, a Navigator alumnus from Cebu City. Edd had been praying to be a part of the growing ministry in Cagayan de Oro City, while he looked for a job. A teaching job at the Xavier University was waiting for Edd. Under his leadership, The CDO Navigator Ministry took off. As the time went on, the team sought the Lord, asking for a full-time worker to oversee the growing work. Another Cebuano Nav Alumnus responded to the need. In 1985, Roy Requiroso gave up a stable job in Manila and went to CDO with his family as the first full-time Navigator staff there. That was exactly three years Juliet and her four friends had asked the Lord to start a Navigator work at CDO.

Because real love doesn’t start with feelings, it starts and remains in Christ.

A Grateful Heart for a Triple Celebration

Last December 17, 2025, we joyfully witnessed a triple celebration in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Barlisan:

We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Mark Barlisan for the dedication of their new home. May this house always be a place where God is honored, prayers are lifted, love is shared, and lives are nurtured in His presence.
