Psalm 3:1-8

Trusting in God's Protection

Verse 1: "Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!"

David starts by admitting that he has many enemies - people who want to bring him down.
It's a reminder that life can feel overwhelming when we face challenges from all si1des, but we shouldn't focus on the number of problems; instead, we FOCUS ON GOD.

Verse 2: "Many are saying of me, 'God will not deliver him.'"
His enemies are mocking him, saying that God won’t help him. Sometimes, people doubt God's ability to help us. But even in those moments, we can trust that GOD IS FAITHFUL and will always come through.

Verse 3: "But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high."

Despite all the enemies, David knows that God is his protector. God is like a shield around him, keeping him safe, and He gives him honor and strength.

When we're facing struggles, we must remember that God surrounds us and lifts us up.

Verse 4: "I call out to the Lord, and He answers me from His holy mountain."
David calls out to God in prayer, and God answers.
Prayer is key - when we speak to God, He listens and responds.

Verse 5: "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me."

David finds peace in trusting God. Even in the middle of his battles, he can sleep because God is taking care of him.

When we focus on God's promises, we can find peace and rest too, knowing He is always watching over us.

Verse 6: "I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side."
Even though David has many enemies, he refuses to fear because his trust is in God.
No matter how big our problems are, we don't need to be afraid when we trust God's power and protection.

Verse 7: "Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked."

David boldly asks God to step in and defeat his enemies. He knows that God is the one who can truly deliver him.
We too can ask God for help, trusting that He is strong enough to handle whatever we face.

Verse 8: "From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people."
Finally, David recognizes that only God can save him and bless His people.
All deliverance and blessings come from the Lord, and we can trust that He will take care of us when we rely on Him.

This Psalm reminds us that no matter how big our problems or how many enemies we face, God is greater.

If we trust in God, He will always protect us and never let us down. His presence is our peace and our strength.

When we pray and call out to God, He answers us and gives us the peace we need to rest. No matter what's going on around us, we can be confident that God is fighting for us.

So, let's keep our focus on God, trust in His protection, and rely on His strength in every situation. His presence is our shield, and He will never fail us.

John 13:34-35 tells us that Jesus gave a new commandment to His disciples: "Love one another as I have loved you."

Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified because of His great love for us. This is the depth of His love - He gave His life for us, not because we were perfect, but because He wanted us to experience true love and freedom.

The amazing thing is that God's love for us is unconditional. It doesn't matter who we are or what we've done - God's love is always there, waiting for us.

But there's something we need to do, too. We need to live according to God's Word and stay in fellowship with Him.

When we do this, we are constantly reminded of His love, and that keeps us grounded and strong in our faith.

What is love?
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 gives us a beautiful description of what love truly looks like. It tells us that love is patient, kind, not self-seeking, and never fails.

This love is not something we can create on our own - it comes from God.

When we accept God's love, we begin to love others in the same way. And this kind of love is eternal; it never fails.

Jesus showed us this kind of love when He allowed Himself to be crucified for our sins. He didn't do it out of obligation - He did it out of pure, sacrificial love. He gave everything so that we could be saved, so we could experience the freedom that only comes from His love.

True love sets us free, but the love that the enemy offers only leads to emptiness and bo***ge.

Jesus came to this world, was nailed to the cross, suffered, and died so that many could come to know and accept God’s love. That's the purpose of His sacrifice.

His love is what changes everything.

When we accept Jesus, we become children of the light. And just like a light cannot exist without a source, we cannot truly be the light in the world or follow Christ without His love in our hearts.

Jesus is love.

If we say we are in Christ, our love for others will reflect that truth.

So, we must always remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Without Him, we would not be saved. It's His love that sustains us, gives us hope, and keeps us alive in Him.

John 13:13-15
[13] “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.

[14] Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.

[15] I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Jesus, the Teacher, the Lord, the One with ultimate authority over all things - He chose humility.

Despite His divine nature, He chose to serve. He washed His disciples' feet, a task that was often reserved for the lowest servant in a household. And in doing so, He gave us a powerful symbol of what it means to follow Him.

As followers of Christ, we are called to live out this same humility in our daily lives. Jesus' actions were not just a display of service - they were a reflection of the heart of God, and a model of how we should relate to one another.

Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45).

His entire life was a life of humility and sacrifice. He humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross (Philippians 2:8), giving His life for us, saving us from sin, restoring our brokenness, and offering forgiveness that we could never earn on our own.

What did Jesus do for us?
He gave His life - the ultimate act of love and sacrifice.
He saved us from our sins and the consequences of separation from God.
He restored us to a relationship with the Father, opening the way for us to live in freedom.
He showed patience with us, even in our mistakes and shortcomings.
He forgives us completely and unconditionally.
He intercedes for us before the Father, even now.
He meets us where we are, in the mess of our lives, and offers grace.
He loves us with an unconditional, everlasting love.
He cleanses us from all unrighteousness, making us new.

These are just a few of the countless ways Jesus serves us. And He invites us to do the same.

We are not called to be served by others or to live in a way that expects others to meet our needs.
Instead, we are to look to God and to serve others with the same humility and love that Jesus showed us.

We are not to depend on people, but on God, in every situation.

As we walk with God, we are called to be humble, just as Jesus is humble.

We are to serve others in love, just as He served us.

In everything we do, we are to honor Him by following His example of humility and servanthood.

Jesus is with us, and He empowers us to live as He pleases, so, let us strive to reflect His heart, not only in our actions but in the humility of our hearts.

John 12:35-36
Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. [36] Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Before these verses, Jesus speaks about the coming judgment - a warning about the wrath of God that was poured out on Him 2,000 years ago and will be poured out on those who reject Him.

God has been so patient with us. He has given us His grace, and He continues to wait for us to turn to Him in repentance. This is the heart of God - He does not want anyone to perish but to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

But we must remember that God's grace has limits. There will come a time when grace is no longer available, and the light will no longer shine.

The light Jesus speaks of is Himself. Jesus is the Light of the World (John 8:12), the Truth, the Way, and the Life (John 14:6). With Him, we have everything we need.

Without Him, we live in darkness - uncertain and without hope.

That's why Jesus instructs us to walk in the light which means living according to His truth, walking in His ways, and following His lead.

Before Darkness Overtakes‼️

The darkness is a place without Jesus. Those who do not know Him, or those who know about Him but choose not to follow Him, are living in spiritual darkness.

They may experience temporary light - like common grace or the knowledge of right and wrong, but without the true Light which is Jesus, they are lost and headed toward eternal separation from God.

Jesus warns us that the time will come when the grace of God will no longer be available. The darkness will come, and those who have rejected the light will face it. If we fail to walk in His truth while we can, darkness will overtake us.

So, we must believe in the Light. We must believe in JESUS!

Believing in Jesus is not just about knowing about Him, but actually trusting Him and living according to His ways. When we do this, we are transformed: we become children of light (John 12:36), and as children of light, we reflect His glory, His grace, and His truth.

God's grace is available to us now, but we must remember that there will come a time when it is no longer available.

We must not waste the opportunity to walk with Jesus while we still can.

We must rely on Him, lean on His wisdom, and walk in His truth.

Remember, God is both the giver and the taker. He has given us His grace freely, but He can also take it away.

Let us use this time wisely to walk in His light, grow in His truth, and share the love and hope of Jesus with others before the darkness overtakes them as well.

While the light is with us, let us walk in it, and let us encourage others to do the same, so that they, too, may experience the fullness of His grace, truth, and salvation.

John 12:25-26
[25] Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

[26] Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

Jesus is warning us about the consequences of loving our lives in this world too much.

Life in this world is often shaped by sin, which is mao ang nakapalayu sa atua sa Himaya sa DIOS. And the more we hold unto things which are influenced by the devil - the more nga mapalayo ta sa Kabubut-on sa Ginoo.

When we choose a life centered around ourselves, we are choosing a life that ultimately leads to disappointment and emptiness. It might feel fulfilling for a time, but it cannot give us lasting peace or joy.

The things of this world, like lust, greed, pride, and selfish ambition, are empty. They cannot satisfy the deepest needs of our hearts. In fact, the more we try to satisfy ourselves with these things, the more we end up hating ourselves and others...

But Jesus tells us that if we choose to "hate" our life in this world, we're actually choosing life with Him. This doesn’t mean we should despise our lives, but rather, we should reject the things that are influenced by the devil.

We should hate the patterns of this world that are not of God and instead, live a life of obedience to His Word.

Ang tinuod nga paghihugma sa kaugalingon is not about pleasing ourselves or others according to worldly standards, but it's about rejecting sin and choosing God's will.

God is love, and if the love that you have doesn't involve God, it's not true love. It's a counterfeit.

The love that God offers is pure, eternal, and life-giving. When we choose to love and serve Him, we are choosing to live in the truth, and in that truth, we find the fullness of life.

So, if we want to serve God, we must follow Jesus and following Him is not just about agreeing with His teachings; it's about living them.

We must walk in His truth and share in His suffering, knowing that through that, we will share in His glory as well.

In our obedience to Jesus, we also share in His eternal life and remaining in His love is stepping into the life that God designed for us.

John 12:10-11
[10] So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,

[11] for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

Because Lazarus was raised from the dead, many people witnessed this great miracle of the Lord - and they believed in Jesus. But the religious leaders, the Pharisees, did not like it. That’s why they also plotted to kill Lazarus.

This shows that the moment we become a testimony of God's power, when we begin to proclaim the name of Jesus and speak of His greatness and what He has done in our lives, the enemy will not like it - that's why he will always try to plot against us because he cannot stand it when Jesus is glorified.

He hates it when people put their faith in Jesus because every soul that turns to Christ is a great loss to him.

Even though he already knows that he is defeated, he still works hard to deceive and entice believers to give up their faith.

Why? Because he hates us, he is full of pride and scorn; he has no mercy, and his purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy.

And if we choose to listen to his lies, it will only bring harm into our lives. That is why we must not give the devil any open door by believing his lies. Listening to him only allows his schemes to enter and bring destruction.

Instead, we must stand firm in our faith and keep proclaiming Jesus and testify His goodness.

Because every testimony glorifies God and when Jesus is lifted, lives are changed, and the enemy is reminded again that he is already defeated.

Hallelujah!

John 11:40
Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"

This was when Lazarus had been dead for four days, and Martha was hesitant to open the tomb because of the odor. But Jesus reminded her that belief opens the door to God's glory.

This verse is a reminder that faith is key to experiencing God's glory. When we choose to believe, we align ourselves with His promises and witness His miraculous work.

In the following verse, Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb, and Lazarus came back to life!

This proved that nothing is impossible for those who believe in God. His Word is truth, and He is the Truth.

We always have a choice: to believe or not to believe.

But our beliefs shape what we experience in life. If we choose not to believe, we miss out on His glory.

On the other hand, choosing faith in God, even in the hardest times, will reveal His glory in ways we could never imagine.

God knows exactly what He's doing.

Trust in Him. Believe in His Word.

Proverbs 1:5
Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance

A wise person is always open to learning, always ready to listen, and constantly seeking guidance.

Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

True wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.

This fear is about recognizing His authority - understanding that He is SOVEREIGN, HOLY, and WORTHY of our reverence.

When we fear the Lord, it opens the door to deeper understanding and knowledge. The more we grow in wisdom, the more our fear of the Lord deepens.

True wisdom is about having a relationship with God, where we allow His Word to shape our lives.

The enemy (Satan) will keep on enticing us nga mapalayo ta diha sa Katarong and if we choose to follow his advice (lies), we're only leading ourselves to ruin.

Pero kong mobarog ta sa PULONG SA DIOS, dili makabuntog ang kaaway nato.

The wisdom of God directs our steps, guards our hearts, and leads us to peace.

We have the freedom to choose.
And our choices will determine if mag-maalamon ba ta or magpabilin sa kabuang.

John 8:47
Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.

This verse reveals an important message: there are two kinds of people in the world.

📌 Those who belong to God.
📌 Those who do not belong to God.

Those who belong to God love to hear His Word.
Why?
Kay ang Pulong SA Ginoo mao ang kamatuoran. It feeds the soul, corrects, strengthens the spirit, and gives life.

The Word of God will remain forever!

Those who are of God recognize the voice of God just as a sheep recognizes the voice of their shepherd (John 10:27).

But those who do not belong to God do not understand or accept His words. Their minds have been corrupted by Satan, who is called the father of lies -it is his nature to lie: he deceives and confuses, leading people away from the truth.
(John 8:44)

This is why Jesus says that some people can't hear God's words - because they are not of God.

Mailhan ang usa ka tao pinaagi sa Kong kinsa ang iyang ginapaminaw ug sa iyang binuhatan.

Hearing leads to doing. If someone listens to and obeys God's Word, it reveals that God is their Father.

But if someone listens to lies and follows them, it shows they are under the influence of another father - the father of lies.

This is a reminder for us that, as people who belong to God, we must take joy in hearing His Word.

Let us not be double-minded, tossed between truth and lies.

Instead, let us have faith in God alone and rejoice every time we hear His Word.

It is a gift to belong to God. So let's remain in Jesus (the Word of God) and live in a way that shows who our true Father is.

How to belong to God and be His child?
📍 Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
(Romans 6:23)
