📍In Barangays Bolunay, Sayawan, and Bontongon in Impasugong, Bukidnon, community leaders came together to continue an important conversation.

Last April 16, 18, and 19, the Barangay Development Councils (BDCs) gathered in their respective halls to revisit the outputs of last year’s consultation meetings with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - CENRO Manolo Fortich regarding the proposed declaration of Mt. Tago as a Protected Area, as presented by XSF.

The session created space to raise clarifications and share insights grounded in community realities.

💬 By bringing local leaders into the discussions, these dialogues create space for communities to share their insights and concerns, ensuring that their voices remain central in guiding decisions and shaping the next steps.

With support from the Rainforest Trust, this initiative continues to foster inclusive, community-driven discussions that center on understanding local concerns about the proposed Protected Area declaration of Mt. Tago.

Professional expertise and youth voices came together to strengthen safer digital learning!

Through Xavier Science Foundation's KKKK Project, working with ChildFund Philippines and ChildFund Australia, gathered partners from the DepEd Tayo Cagayan de Oro City Division Office, Cagayan de Oro City LGU, and the City Council for the Protection of Children for the Swipe Safe Contextualization Workshop of Training Packages held on March 26-27 in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

The workshop focused on refining and contextualizing the training packages for the youth, professionals, and parents/caregivers to ensure that they are relatable in the Philippine context and aligned with the needs of children and youth. Through collaborative discussions and technical input, participants helped shape key outputs, including updated manual content, improved session flows, and localized case scenarios.

These strengthened training materials are now better equipped to guide facilitators in delivering relevant, practical, and impact-driven sessions that support children and youth in navigating online spaces safely.

Together with our partners, we continue to support a movement where children and youth lead the way in shaping the online world they deserve.

🌸 Through Xavier Science Foundation’s iWOMAN initiative, and in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities, a shared space was created where community mentors and RMHC volunteers came together in Sitio San Guinto, Pangantucan, Bukidnon, for a day of learning, exchange, and connection during the Indigenous Crafts Production Masterclass.

From mat weaving and basket making to bead and accessory crafting, cultural masters from the Manobo community guided participants through traditional practices, passing on skills shaped by generations of lived experience. More than hands-on activities, these sessions became moments of storytelling and mutual learning.

💜 Rooted in the celebration of International Women’s Month, the engagement highlights the vital role of Indigenous women as knowledge holders in preserving culture, strengthening livelihoods, and sustaining their communities.

🤝 Together with our partners, we continue to support spaces where Indigenous knowledge is recognized, shared, and carried forward led by the communities who live and practice it every day.

👩🏽‍🌾 In the SDG 2 webinar "She Decides What We Plant and What We Eat", IP women, community leaders, youth, and partners came together to surface a shared reality. Malnutrition is not just about lack of food, but also about access, choices, systems, and the erosion of traditional food practices. This conversation brought those dimensions into focus and showed that solutions are already present within communities.

The stories shared remind us that home gardening is not just a practice, it is a system that strengthens food security while protecting culture and the environment. When IP women decide what is planted and what is eaten, they sustain families, preserve biodiversity, and build self-reliance that reduces dependence on chemical-heavy food systems.

This activity contributes to a larger movement by:
✅ Strengthening recognition of Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices as viable and sustainable solutions to food security
✅ Encouraging household and community-level gardening as a practical response to malnutrition and economic vulnerability
✅ Linking science, policy, and tradition to create more responsive and context-based interventions
✅ Amplifying the role of women as knowledge holders and decision-makers in shaping food systems

What emerged from the webinar is not just awareness, but direction. It calls for stronger partnerships, support from institutions, and policies that protect and uplift community-led solutions. It also reminds us that addressing hunger is not only about producing more food, but about restoring relationships with the land and culture.

💚 Because when communities are empowered to grow their own food, they are also growing dignity, resilience, and a future they can sustain.

📍In Pangantucan, voices from communities, schools, IP leaders, government agencies, and partners came together to talk about a shared reality: despite being rich in agricultural resources, malnutrition remains a challenge we cannot ignore.

Through the consultation on Promoting Community Gardening Towards Enhancing Food Security and Agrobiodiversity happened last March 18 at Pangantucan Community High School, stories and insights grounded us, reminding us that solutions are already within reach. From Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSPs), to school gardens, to family-led initiatives, one message stood clear: food security starts at home, in our backyards, and in our communities.

📣 “Tanom namo, pagkaon namo.” This principle continues to guide the way forward where growing food is not just an activity, but a shared responsibility for raising a healthier generation.

🤝 The consultation also surfaced an urgent call: stronger collaboration, better alignment of programs, and collective action among LGUs, schools, CSOs, and communities. Because addressing malnutrition is not a one-sector effort—it takes all of us working together.

As we move forward, the hope is simple but powerful: that Pangantucan can become a model of how communities, rooted in culture and knowledge, can reclaim food systems that nourish both people and the land.

The consultation was organized and led by the Xavier Science Foundation, Inc., with support from the National Land Coalition PH, Pangantucan Community High School - PCHS, and the Nagkahiusang Manobong Manununod sa Yutang Kabilin, Inc.
