𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐀 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

Last April 7, 2026, the Social Work Program, together with the JSWAP – LC Chapter, successfully held its final Program Meeting for the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026. The gathering served as a meaningful culmination of the semester’s efforts, reflecting both accomplishments and growth within the program.

During the event, the Social Work Program officers presented their Accomplishment Report, highlighting the significant activities, initiatives, and milestones achieved by both the Social Work Program and the JSWAP – LC Chapter. These accomplishments stood as a testament to the dedication, collaboration, and commitment of the student leaders and members throughout the semester.

In recognition of their invaluable service, the Program Coordinator and JSWAP – LC Chapter Moderator awarded certificates to the outgoing officers, honoring their hard work, sacrifices, and leadership. The distribution of certificates symbolized appreciation for their contributions to the program’s success.

Additionally, the Auditor and Treasurer presented the financial report, ensuring transparency and accountability in the organization’s operations.

The program concluded with the official announcement of the election results, delivered by the JSWAP – LC Chapter Moderator, Ms. Elgelyn J. Dador, RSW, marking the transition to a new set of leaders who will continue the mission and legacy of service.

As we conclude this meaningful chapter, we carry with us the lessons, memories, and achievements that have shaped our journey. With grateful hearts for those who have served and hopeful spirits for those who will lead, the Social Work Program continues to move forward in unity and purpose.

✨ 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲. ✨

Last March 25, 2026, the Social Work 3B students conducted a seminar entitled “𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲” celebration of Social Work Month.

The seminar highlighted key topics such as the 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (𝗘-𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗣), the Crisis Intervention Unit, and the 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲, deepening our understanding of how social workers respond in times of crisis and help individuals rebuild their lives.

From shared smiles and meaningful conversations to moments of learning and reflection, 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 💙 became more than just a seminar. It became a space for connection, compassion, and purpose. Every photo tells a story of growth and a shared commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.

Through powerful discussions and genuine interactions, this experience reminded us that social work is not just a profession. It is a calling to serve, uplift, and bring hope where it is needed most.

Indeed, these moments will continue to inspire us to become instruments of healing and peace in our communities. ✨

Last Saturday, March 28, 2026, the 4th-year social work students held their Community Case Study defense at Lourdes College, where they presented the various problems, realities and interventions of their respective assigned districts and municipalities; guided by the partnered field agencies and school field instructors, they successfully defended their case studies, marking a meaningful milestone on their field practicum journey.

Following this achievement, the culmination program of the Field Instruction was held in the afternoon at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of Lourdes College; hosted by social work interns Mary Jane Casilao and Ezekiel Monceda, the celebration was filled with excitement and gratitude as it honored the students’ 1000 hours of internship, accomplishments and the journey they had undertaken.

The program formally opened with a message from the Social Work Program Coordinator: Sir Justine Gerald C. Granaderos, RSW. Messages of appreciation were also shared by the interns and guests, expressing their continued support in molding future social workers, their pride and admiration for the students’ perseverance and success. The event concluded with a ‘salo-salo’ held in one of the LC classrooms, where everyone gathered to celebrate through food and fellowship.

Each student’s journey throughout the field practicum has been unique and deeply meaningful despite the challenges and setbacks encountered along the way, the interns remained steadfast, resilient and committed to their purpose as they reach the culmination of their college life, they have demonstrated remarkable growth, personally and professionally.

As they take the next step, the Lourdes College community proudly looks ahead to the future graduates of Batch 2026, aspiring for a 100% passing rate and celebrating future topnotchers in the 2026 Social Work Licensure Examination.

The 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 and 𝐉𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐏-𝐋𝐂 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 continued to actively participate in the second day of the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬.

The morning session of the program was dedicated to the review, amendment, and ratification of the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐲-𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐬 of the organization. Delegates from various chapters engaged in meaningful discussions, collaborative deliberations, and the exchange of suggestions to ensure that the provisions of the Constitution and By-Laws remain responsive, inclusive, and relevant to the current needs of social work students across the country. This process highlighted the importance of democratic participation, shared leadership, and collective decision-making within the organization.

In the afternoon, delegates also took part in the 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐏 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬. The election process became a significant opportunity for student leaders to exercise their right to vote and choose individuals who will lead the organization with integrity, competence, and dedication. It also served as a reminder of the importance of active participation in shaping the future direction of the organization and strengthening student leadership within the field of social work.

During the second part of the afternoon’s program, we were also given the opportunity to 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐏-𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫. We exchanged names, ideas, experiences, and stories, creating meaningful connections and friendships with fellow social work students from various institutions. This interaction allowed us to learn from one another, appreciate our shared advocacies, and strengthen our sense of solidarity as future social workers.

Overall, Day 2 was a meaningful and productive experience that strengthened unity among chapters, encouraged active involvement in organizational governance, and reinforced our commitment to leadership, service, and the advancement of the social work profession.

The first day of the convention was marked by a vibrant and engaging atmosphere, as delegates from various institutions came together in a spirit of unity and collaboration. The program opened with interactive activities such as kamustahan, energizers, and icebreakers, which fostered camaraderie, strengthened connections, and created a welcoming space for meaningful exchanges among future social workers.

A highlight of the event was the inspiring keynote address delivered by 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬-𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, 𝐑𝐒𝐖, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐈𝐧𝐜. Her message emphasized the critical role of social workers in nation-building, urging students to embody compassion, resilience, and a deep commitment to service in addressing the complex social issues of today.

The learning sessions were further enriched by distinguished speakers from the field of social work education. 𝐌𝐬. 𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐥 𝐒. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚-𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃., led the first session, which centered on the theme of the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: “𝐂𝐨-𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲: 𝐀 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲.” Her discussion highlighted the importance of collective action, pulling together, and emphasized the role of Bayanihan in the culture of the Filipinos.

In the second session, Mr. Jeffrey Razonable, Ph.D., delivered a thought-provoking talk on “Social Work Student Leadership in Today’s Society: Becoming Transformative Social Workers — Leadership, Purpose, and Practice in a Changing World.” He underscored the evolving role of student leaders as catalysts for change, encouraging participants to develop purpose-driven leadership grounded in ethical practice, critical thinking, and social responsiveness.

The third session was once again delivered by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐥 𝐒. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚-𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃., titled “𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬,” which emphasized the importance of solidarity and collective strength in addressing societal challenges.

The latter part of the program showcased nine research presentations from social work students across various campuses. These studies reflected the diversity of issues being addressed within the field, ranging from community development to social protection and advocacy. Each presentation demonstrated the students’ dedication to evidence-based practice and their commitment to generating knowledge that can inform sustainable and impactful social interventions.

Overall, the first day of the convention ignited a deeper passion among participants to pursue a more just, inclusive, and compassionate society. It served not only as a platform for learning and professional growth but also as a powerful reminder of the shared mission that unites all social workers—to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and uphold social justice in all its forms.
