ABADAY CALLS FOR MEETING WITH MALL EXECS ON PARKING COMPLAINTS

THE management of one of Cagayan de Oro City’s malls was invited by the 21st City Council on Monday (Oct. 6) to a joint committee meeting to discuss complaints on social media about their parking policy within their area.

In his special report, Councilor Roger Abaday mentioned during the council’s regular Monday afternoon session about an open letter that went viral on social media which criticized the mall management’s parking policy that restricted access to motorists.

Abaday said the mall management placed barriers like plant pots to block certain parking spaces. He said this inconvenienced motorists making quick errands, drop-offs, or pick-ups.

Councilor Abaday said while Limketkai mall management owns the property, business establishments are still required by the Building Code of the Philippines and city ordinances to provide adequate parking areas based on their floor area.

Abaday proposed to invite officials and representatives of Limketkai Center to a joint committee meeting involving the Committee on Public Utilities, Office of the Building Official, Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) and the City Planning and Development Office to resolve the complaints.
