A significant step toward creating safer digital spaces for young people was marked through the city-wide launch of the Swipe Safe Project and App during the PopDev Convergence held at the City Tourism Hall last August 8, 2026. Bringing together more than 300 PopDev Club members and moderators from across the city, the event served as a platform to introduce an innovative initiative that promotes digital safety, responsible online behavior, and informed digital citizenship.

Developed to address the growing challenges faced by young people in the digital space, Swipe Safe aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and tools to recognize online risks, make informed decisions, and navigate the internet safely and responsibly. The Swipe Safe App complements these efforts by providing accessible learning resources and interactive features that encourage positive online engagement.

The launch featured presentations from project partners and stakeholders, including the official unveiling of the Swipe Safe App, highlighting a shared commitment to empowering young people to become responsible and resilient digital citizens.

The Swipe Safe Project is implemented by Xavier Science Foundation, Inc. (XSF), working with ChildFund Philippines and ChildFund Australia, in partnership with the Department of Education - Division of Cagayan de Oro City and City LGU, working together to promote safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly digital environments for every learner.

In celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Xavier Science Foundation, Inc. (XSF), with support from ChildFund Philippines , joined the 6th Hakab sa Oro, a gathering of mothers, health workers, advocates, government agencies, and partner organizations united in promoting breastfeeding and maternal and child health.

👶Breastfeeding is one of the most important foundations of a child’s growth and development, particularly during the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝗞 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱, a critical window that shapes a child’s health and future well-being. This is why XSF continues to champion initiatives that promote proper nutrition, responsive caregiving, and stronger support systems for mothers and families. Through collective efforts from communities, institutions, and advocates, we can create environments where mothers are empowered and children are given the best possible start in life.

One of the event’s most meaningful moments was the simultaneous latch-on, a powerful symbol of the community’s shared commitment to nurturing the next generation. It served as a reminder that supporting breastfeeding is a responsibility that extends beyond mothers alone and requires the support of families, workplaces, communities, and policymakers alike.

As XSF continues its work in child development and protection, we stand alongside fellow advocates in advancing the health and well-being of mothers, children, and families working toward communities where every child has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

The Xavier Science Foundation, Inc. in partnership with ChildFund Philippines, the Department of Education (DepEd) Cagayan de Oro Division, and the Cagayan de Oro city government, launched the Swipe Safe Project on June 25 to strengthen child online protection and promote responsible digital citizenship among learners.

The project aims to equip children, parents, caregivers, educators, and duty bearers with knowledge and practical skills to navigate digital spaces safely.

Young leaders are stepping forward to help create safer digital spaces in their schools!

Through the Project, XSF, with ChildFund Philippines and ChildFund Australia, and in partnership with Department of Education - Division of Cagayan de Oro City and the City LGU, young leaders from five pilot schools are now taking the lead in guiding peers, promoting safer online behavior, and responding to digital risks with confidence.

Following the Swipe Safe Training of Trainers held on May 12–13, 2026, they are ready to roll out the app and lead peer advocacy on online safety.

A new wave of youth champions is helping make online spaces safer and more supportive for all.

📣 Youth voices are rising, and their truths are shaping real online safety.

Through Xavier Science Foundation’s KKKK Project, working together with ChildFund Philippines and ChildFund Australia, and in partnership with DepEd City Division and the Cagayan de Oro Child Protection Council, young leaders in CDO spoke openly about the risks they face online and how these affect their daily lives during the Advocacy and Campaigns Training Workshop held on February 16–17, 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City.

Their insights are now guiding how for Mindanao tackles issues like OSAEC/CSAEM, cyberbullying, media literacy gaps, psychosocial harm, and privacy breaches, turning lived experiences into concrete action.

Together with our partners, we’re backing a movement where young people lead the push for safer digital spaces and claim their role in shaping the online world they deserve.

🤔 Kids are spending more time online than ever, so how do we keep them safe?
🤝 With support from ChildFund Philippines and ChildFund Australia, Xavier Science Foundation’s KKKK Project, in partnership with the Department of Education - Division of Cagayan de Oro City and the City CDO City Council for the Protection of Children, brought youth leaders together in Cagayan de Oro City to help strengthen the Swipe Safe app, a tool that guides children and young people on digital safety, privacy, and responsible online behavior.
Originally developed by ChildFund Australia, youth leaders worked together to make the Swipe Safe app relatable and useful for Filipino children. Their insights are helping ensure the app speaks to real online challenges faced by young people in Mindanao and across the country.
This collaboration moves us closer to a safer, more child‑friendly digital world, one where kids can navigate online spaces with greater confidence and protection.
