Su***de remains a significant global public health concern. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 720,000 people die by su***de every year worldwide. Su***de was also the third leading cause of death among people aged 15โ29 globally in 2021.
Behind every number is a person, a story, and a life that matters.
This Su***de Prevention Month, let us strengthen a culture of compassion, understanding, and support within our university community. Let us listen without judgment, reach out to those who may be struggling, and create a safe environment where seeking help is encouraged and supported.
Take a moment to remind yourself and someone around you:
You are enough.
You are beautiful.
You are worthy.
You are kind.
You are important.
You are brave.
You are unique.
You are seen.
You are heard.
You are strong.
You are valuable.
You are amazing.
You are wonderful.
You are loved.
You are not alone.
You matter.
Let us change the narrative on su***de by choosing compassion, starting conversations, and fostering a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.
