The Association of Scholarly Editors (ASE) successfully conducted the Training Workshop on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (SRMA) for Allied Health, Social Sciences, Business, Education, and Humanities Academic Programs on July 29โ€“31, 2026, at Castle Peak Hotel, Cebu City.

Participants explored the complete SRMA processโ€”from developing research questions and review protocols to literature searching, quality appraisal, data extraction, statistical synthesis, interpretation of findings, and reporting based on international standards.

โ€ข Formulate review questions using appropriate frameworks (PICO, SPIDER, SPICE, PEO).
โ€ข Develop review protocols and comprehensive search strategies.
โ€ข Apply Prisma 2020 guidelines in conducting reviews.
โ€ข Conduct advanced literature searching and study selection.
โ€ข Extract data and assess risk of bias of included studies.
โ€ข Understand the fundamentals of meta-analysis.
โ€ข Perform and interpret meta-analysis using internet-accessible software tools.
โ€ข Interpret forest plots, funnel plots, heterogeneity, and publication bias.
โ€ข Write publication-ready systematic review and meta-analysis manuscripts.
โ€ข Identify appropriate journals and publication strategies for Scopus and Web of Science.
โ€ข Apply SRMA evidence in research and policy decision-making.
