This initiative is supported under the SPADe Project in Mindanao.

The project “Strengthening the Implementation of Regional and Local Peace and Development Agendas in Mindanao (SPADe)” is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

PROMOTING PEACE & DEVELOPMENT IN MINDANAO!

Thorough review of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between AgriCOOPh, LGU, and two Fisherfolk associations in Balingasag (Binitinan and Waterfall Fisherfolk Association).

This partnership aims to promote ecological sustainability, financial viability, social inclusivity, and peace and development in Mindanao.

The MOA seeks to ensure the sustainability of providing fish cages and inputs for the AgriCOOPh in the AGRI project under the Spade MinPADE of the GIZ and the local government of Balingasag, which are also participated in by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Agriculture (DA), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and MSU Naawan, where the project is under the management of the two associations.

Let's work together towards a more economically, ecologically, and inclusively peaceful and prosperous Mindanao!

SUSTAINABLE FISHING PRACTICES IN ACTION!

The project aims to apply an Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture (IMTA) approach that combines different aquatic species to reduce waste and improve efficiency. This would eventually help small-scale fisherfolk associations and LGU Balingasag move towards sustainable milkfish production in net cages.

The initiative not only benefits the local economy but also enhances the resilience of the coastal ecosystem. On the awareness aspect, the project also highlights the need for environmental protection and marine habitat conservation for human well-being.

A handful of "Lato" are packed in culture cages to observe their growth performance within the park. These cages are attached to the cage structure within the Mariculture Park.

This is supported under the MinPAD SPADe, GIZ and AgriCOOPh.
