WORLD AIDS DAY 2025 โค๏ธ๐ค
THEME: โOvercoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response."
Every year, World AIDS Day is commemorated on December 1st to raise awareness about the HIV and AIDS epidemic, show support for people living with HIV, and remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses. This global observance, first established in 1988, serves as a powerful reminder that HIV remains a pressing public health concern that demands collective effort, compassion, and continuous education.
In recent years, the number of HIV cases in the Philippines has continued to increase, particularly among young people. According to the Department of Health (DOH), the majority of new infections are reported among the youth aged 15 to 24 years oldโan alarming trend that underscores the urgency of equipping young individuals with accurate information, promoting responsible behavior, and eliminating stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV and AIDS.
In line with this, the Cadiz City Primary Care Facility, in partnership with The Rainbow Alliance, will spearhead the World AIDS Day 2025 Celebration through an HIV, AIDS, and Gender Sensitivity Seminar on December 9, 2025 at Terrace Garden Restaurant, intended for student leaders from the 23 public and private schools in Cadiz City and LGBTQIA+ members from the 22 barangays. This initiative supports Republic Act No. 11166 (Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018) and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, particularly the global call to end AIDS by 2030.
